My best friend is going through a time of separation and most probably divorce. After getting Linda's book, I rushed it to my friend with an encouraging word. "This neither promotes divorce nor staying together. It's just to get you through THIS hard time." She called a few days later. "This has helped save my sanity," she said. "I have wept and I have found peace. That's what I need most of all; peace."

Linda's words are penned not from interviews but from first-hand knowledge. These are truly HER words. I have had the blessing and joy of watching her take journals of hard and trying days and turn them into words of hope and healing. This work is truly superb.

We live in an era when divorce is on the rise and yet no one wants to address the core of hurt: the heart. So many books are written about how to simply carry on...when to date again...how to get credit in your name. All important stuff! But what about the healing of the heart?

When I recently became separated, everyone told me to file for divorce and cut him loose. Even the people from my church said that I deserved better. In my pain, I ordered a bunch of books to help me cope. Just when I was ready to give up on my marriage, I got Broken Heart on Hold. I realized that when you truly make a commitment in your marriage, you have to honor it even when it looks like all hope is lost.

In this book, LInda gives the reader hope and comfort to be able to trust God in your walk through separation. The worldly way may be to give up and try to end the pain, which we all know takes time. God's way is to trust Him, pray for your spouse, and let His healing redemptive time work through each of you. Many of us think that it is the other person who needs to be changed, but this book takes us to a higher level for ourselves, which allows us to interact in our conversations with our spouse as a new person.

Whenever I feel impatient, desparate, sad, or lonely, I read this book.

Broken Heart On Hold is a wonderful devotional book for a person that is going through a separation or divorce. The book is written primarily for women whose husband's have left them but it is a great book for men too. Linda Rook is such a wonderful writer and is able to put into words so many of the emotions and feelings that a person goes through while they are separated. The book really helps a person focus on their relationship with God. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We recommend it as a resource for our reconciliation ministry.

I found this book to be such a help when my husband left. Linda put into words what I was feeling and when the emotions surround and there is no one to talk to, reading the book helps to know you are not alone. She identifies so many of the different feelings going on and empathizes with the reader, but then gives positive direction as to where to place one's hope and trust during the turbulent time to find peace. I've already given a copy to a friend going through a separation and will do so again for anyone I know who is going through a similar situation.

Linda - thank you so much for writing this book. I'm reading another Christian book on separation; and it does have good insight. But there is something so precious and valuable from hearing from a Christian woman who has GONE THROUGH what she is writing about. I identify with so much of what she says and, while I've only just started reading the book, and I'm only a few weeks into a separation from my husband, I have a feeling that what she says is real wisdom. Thank you so much. I would definitely recommend this book.

I bought this book before my husband moved out and it really did become a "friend". The author went through a long separation herself and it was encouraging to not only read some of her story but other women's too.

Ok, I do have to start out by saying that this book is for Christians only . . . I'm Catholic and base a lot on my faith, so I think the book is amazing. However, it is fully and completely based on Christian faith and scripture, so if you aren't Christian, this book is not for you. Like all the other reviews, I have to say this is the most comforting book, really like a bedside best friend. It is made up of very short readings, each one focusing on different stories from her own journey with separation, and different aspects of what we all are going through. The book does primarily come from the standpoint of a woman who was left by her husband, vs. a woman who has left her husband, but I think the bottom line is the same - emotions you are going through when finding yourself in a place you never thought you'd find your marriage in, and living with feelings of abandonment, betrayal, and hurt. Linda Rooks really has a beautiful way of speaking to your heart and making you feel as though she is there with her arm around you or holding your hand, helping you use the Lord as your rock to get you through each day. I read this either in the morning when I wake up, or when I go to bed, depending on how I am feeling that day. And sometimes I read it both day and night! It's a lovely, lovely book. If you are going through the pain of separation, or even if you aren't physically separated but going through the pain of a marriage on the rocks (or infidelity as in my case), this book is for you. You will not regret buying it. In fact, you cannot get it soon enough for yourself!
