Editorial Reviews

Review

'It is as a deeply committed Catholic that Alison unpacks that faith with intelligence and imagination. He can dazzle with his exposition of sacred texts and offers new insights into old dogma.' (Times Literary Supplement )

'The benefit of the chapters having been born from spoken lectures is that there is a wonderful directness and immediacy in the delivery of their detail... As a result of this book, I find myself reading scripture in a new way.'

5.0 out of 5 stars My Heart is Broken and I am Created Newly, July 20, 2010
This review is from: Broken Hearts and New Creations: Intimations of a Great Reversal (Paperback)
In a manner simultaneously charming and profound, theologian James Alison explores the depth and challenges of the Catholic faith as a personally transformative experience within an orthodox global community. Each essay is rich with humor, humanity and wisdom as it challenges our conventional relationship with God and invites us to engage with the I Am who loves and forgives us. Reading this book leaves me vulnerable to God's love and open to following Christ as His new creation. It is wonderful to be both aware of my failings and called forth to a new life. Alleluia!
