Pleasant surprise,
By A Customer
This review is from: Broken Hearts: A Novel of Suspense (Hardcover)
I picked up this book because Levy went to U.Va and set part of the book in Charlottesville. What a pleasant surprise to find a book filled not only with atmosphere of the present and the 50's but with really interesting characters. The premise of an executed serial killer inhabiting ..... well I won't give it away, but the book is impossible to put down, like a roller coaster you know where it is ultimately headed but you are enjoying the ride so much....

The true story behind movies and books....,

When you first pick up Bob Levy's new book, you may easily choose to put it back down due to its shiny pulp fiction like cover. However, the bloody bold yellow letters and old movie theater only set the stage for a nail-biting search for a serial killer in Elvis land. I actually work in the bookstore in the old movie theater that Levy mentions in Chapter 31. All of our employees have heard the "urban legends" that someone was once murdered upstairs in "the crying room." Levy gives great fictious flare to the stories we have all heard and keeps us wondering if they are actually true! He even decribes our store perfectly! For those of you who enjoy a great mystery or thriller, you will definitely enjoy the story Bob Levy plots! For those of us working at the bookstore, we hold our breath and check behind closed doors!!

Bob Levy really put it together with Broken Hearts. I started the book on an overnight business trip. By the time I got back home the book was finished and I was on Amazon looking for another book by Mr. Levy.

Suspenseful thriller,
By A Customer
This review is from: Broken Hearts: A Novel of Suspense (Hardcover)
This suspenseful thriller leads the reader down one street, then another, and another........ The plot is clever, unbelievably believable. Each broken heart made this reader's heart pound a little more, and a little more, and a little more. I look forward to the next.

can't put it down!,

This review is from: Broken Hearts: A Novel of Suspense (Hardcover)
This book was a real surprise. I simply could not stop turning pages. Fans of John Grisham will appreciate the well researched details of the book while Patricia Cornwell readers will love the well executed twist ending. I also appreciated the way the gruesome details were handled with an elegant touch that conveyed the horror of the crimes without glorifying them. All in all, a fascinating read that lacked nothing ... except perhaps a map for those of us who now wish to visit these old movie houses that inspired this author's impressive first novel. I can't wait for the next book.

Forensic Mystery,
This review is from: Broken Hearts: A Novel of Suspense (Hardcover)
Spanning 50-years, this story opens with the execution of a serial killer, who had the bad habit of removing the hearts from his female victims with a hatchet, and then dressing them like famous movie stars. He is brought to justice by a cop whose wife was the killer's last victim. Years later, a copy-cat killer brings the cop back into the hunt. Lots of scientific info packed into this suspense-thriller, with gruesome descriptions of crime scenes. Impressive debut novel from Levy.

Good for putting chills down the reader's spine,

Bob Levy's Broken Hearts is a gripping psychological thriller about a serial killer who targets women and leaves their bodies in old theaters, with makeup applies to make resemble a silver screen star of the fifties. Decades ago, the original killer with this twisted method of operation was electrocuted for his crime, yet now a new spree pattern has emerged - an ordinary copycat? Or something much more sinister? Broken Hearts is a tense, engaging story that is especially good for putting chills down the reader's spine!

This is the first book in a very long time that I read cover to cover in just one sitting. I started BROKEN HEARTS during an afternoon road trip and couldn't stop until I had absorbed every word. Bob Levy's quirky characters and clever dialogue kept me spellbound. Great job, Bob! Looking forward to the sequel.
