Biography

New York outfit O’Death contains vocalist/guitarist Greg Jamie, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Gabe Darling, fiddle player Bob Pycior, bassist Newman and drummer David Rogers-Berry. They have evolved the possessed Americana-meets-gypsy-punk of recent years into a more urgent, unrelenting celebration of life, death and everything in between.

Editorial Reviews

Borrowing their band name from a traditional American folk song that comes out of Western North Carolina, O'Death draws on traditional folk, bluegrass, punk, gypsy music, metal, swing and jazz stylings. Originally formed in 2003 while the members attended SUNY Purchase, the band with Jamie on guitar and vocals, Gabe Darling on banjo, David Rogers-Berry on drums, Jesse Newman on bass, and Bob Pycior on fiddle played a series of shows at the now defunct Apocalypse Lounge in NYC, and quickly began building a fanbase with their reverently twisted take on Americana filtered through a wealth of musical influences as divergent as Bill Monroe, Prince, Neil Young, The Microphones, and The Misfits.

5.0 out of 5 stars The mystically enchanting dark of the eternal night...., July 8, 2009
Just saw the band live and they were incredible! They took my mind to a strange dark night in 1850's America and I was sad to leave. Indescribable in many ways. Not a perfect album but some fun tracks and a weird ride. Looking for a strange trip, you just found it.

side note: told the band I was copying my cd and giving it to friends and they encouraged it! good guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars We go to sleep and then we die..., January 5, 2010

This review is from: Broken Hymns Limbs & Skin (Audio CD)
For anyone who enjoys the whole "Gothic Country" sound this album is truly excellent, manic playing and ferocious vocal's and while the whole thing is dark the boy's are clearly having a lot of fun doing it. If you like Those Poor B*stards, Son's of Perdition or 16 Horsepower/Wovenhand there's plenty here to like. For that matter if this style of country is the only "country" you can stand to listen to (like me) and you mostly listen to experimental or metal stuff this is still a great buy. All in all a great disk.
