3.0 out of 5 stars Business as usual April 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Reawakening Saga has a tendency of repeating themselves in all their books. It is a roll over of a fact that the main character has a whole series of things going his way. And then at the very ending everything goes downhill and he is put in a situation where it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. And then it ends leaving a cliff hanger. The story line is good enough to continue to read it, but I would wish there would be more of a finality when it comes to the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Couldn't Put It Down! April 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I couldn't put the book down... started reading last night and finished this morning.

Thad picks up where he left off and continues his "On The Job" Mage training. With out risking spoiling it, "Broken Mage" will keep you engaged from the start til the finish. This book provides excellent character insight and character growth as well as broadens your view of the world of the series. The villains you knew were lurking in the back ground are... (I'm not going to give it away - I wouldn't do that to you.) This is one of the best stories I have read in a long time that really gets you involved with the enchantments; makes you wonder what 'you' would do and gets your own creative juices flowing as you almost want to crawl into the story and learn and re-invent with Thad as he rediscovers magic.

Also as a parent of young teen readers I applaud the author for keeping it clean; to my mind a mark of great storytelling. Great Job Mr. Jackson, here's to another fantastic book in a fantastic series. I highly recommend this book to all who enjoy Science Fiction and Fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best story line this year May 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you haven't read the other books in this series, do it! The author has done an amazing job of creating a cast of characters that would not be out of place in a movie. I look forward to reading future titles from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good April 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'd honestly give this one 3.5 stars if I could. It was good, definitely worth reading if you've read the first two. The only complaint I had is about how little the story progresses in this book. There is some good world building and we meet some new interesting characters but the story didn't move as far forward as I hoped. The editing was definitely much better this time (still a few errors though). I like this series and will continue to read it and I recommend it if you've already read the other ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Broken mage April 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I think that this book was really good, but the only part that I'm having a hard time with is that it wasn't as long and I wanted to see him get out of the cave. But besides this series is probably the best I have read so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the first two April 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lots of action and magical exploration. I like this book better than the first two. There is strife and struggle. Unlike the first two books, nothing seems to be going our champion's way. The hints and little bits of info we as the reader picks up on but our Mage is relatively clueless about are tantilizing and engaging.

We're stuck underground for the book but on the whole I would heartily recommend this book. The pace the struggle and the action are blended just about perfectly in this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Narration Mage January 24, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition
I hope you find this review USEFUL.

What I would have liked to know before I bought this book. (minor spoilers)

1. What type of book is it: adventure, action, drama, etc? This is an exploration high fantasy adventure.

2. What is the story about, in general? The story is about Mark's adventures in the Deep Caverns (my word), where he grows his skill and develops both friends and enemies.

3. What/Who is the target audience? Teenagers and Young Adults. Those that enjoy detailed magical experimentation and `Underdark' type exploration might enjoy the book as well.

4. How is the proofreading? Slightly below average. The (The) reader will (found) mistakes of (very) type. One page has over seven crass mistakes in one paragraph.

5. Is there character development or exploration? Thad continues to develop as a mage, but his personality remains constant. His description evolves as well, becoming more seasoned. This installment introduces two new characters, a typical dwarf and a pet dog. Cliché, sure, but at least interesting.

6. Are the characters likable? Believe it or not, this book has almost zero dialogue. Yet, it somehow manages to have better character synergy than the previous books because of it! I find this quite perplexing.

7. Do you have to suspend disbelief? Not that much. Certainly, the chance meetings are suspect, but they came about through active adventuring. You meet people/things and travel to places when you do so. The key word is 'people/things'. If you find a princess, your archenemy or god (as crass examples), then that's excessive coincidence.

8. Does the story keep its pacing? Given the first two books, yes. Surprisingly enough, this installment does.
