I AM THE "FRIEND" ON WHOM MR. ZAMEN BASED HIS PROTAGONIST IN "BROKEN SAINT" - GIVES SOME GOOD INSIGHTS ON BIPOLAR DISORDER AND HOMOSEXUALITY FROM AN OUTSIDE VIEW (ALTHO HE USED JOURNALS ETC.I KEPT MYSELF) - TALKS LIKE WE COLLABORATED IN PUBLISHING THE BOOK BUT I NEVER GOT GLIMPSE OF IT BEFORE I ORDERED IT MYSELF.

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful By AFguy on June 6, 2010
Format: Hardcover
Reading this book, I was moved by how hard the protagonist, Tom, tried to make a life for himself, burdened not only by mistreated mental illness but also by his religious upbringing, where his being gay was condemned, and his military service, where it was denounced. His efforts at forming close personal relationships and their ultimate failure were particularly affecting.
