4.0 out of 5 stars The West Coast to the Upper Crust, March 21, 2006

This review is from: Brokers Banquet (Audio CD)
I first heard the Yuppie Pricks on XM Fungus 53 with "Hummer in my Hummer". I just had to laugh out loud. I absolutely had to get that album. How many of us have encountered obnoxious pricks driving large SUV's, wearing pink polos, and who think Reagan is the greatest thing this country has ever seen. To me, the Yuppie Pricks express this attitude and puncture that kind of attitude with a sharp stick. The Jello Biafra cameo on "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Yuppie" was perfect and is screaming out to be mashed up with video form Office Space. The track "New Rolls" is a take off of the Damned's "New Rose", but talking about a new car rather than a new girl. While on the whole, I liked the album, it does pale in comparison to the Upper Crust. They're a band from Boston who sounds like AC/DC, but dress like Louis XIV (the king that is...). The Upper Crust has a certain elegance that does what the Yuppie Pricks are trying to do, but not as crass. I still recommend it, but it's not the best.
