I have heard several interpretations of Jimi's material from the Kronos Quartet to Carlos Santana to Earth Wind & Fire to Rickie Lee Jones to.... How Brian Bromberg played guitar solos on bass, I don't understand, but if you are a bassist or a fan of Hendrix or just enjoy good music, check this out.

Brian Bromberg plays tribute to guitar god Jimi Hendrix with this great disc. The amazing thing is that there is NO GUITAR on this disc! It's only Brian on standard and piccolo bass and the great Vinnie Colaiuta on drums. That's it. And that's all you need. I think some other reviews are missing the point of this disc. It's not supposed to be note for note copies of these classic Hendrix songs - it's about the spirit of Hendrix. Do yourself a favor and check this out!

Truly a great album that is like nothing else you've heard!.. Hendrix would flip to hear Brian playing the virtuosic bass to all of his music..Bass and drums are all the instruments on this, and they are totally awesome..A must for any Hendrix fan..This is a performance from another planet!Superbly recorded.

I heard this CD on a publicly-funded DC jazz station, WPFW, and had to have it! I called a friend who also likes Bromberg and recommended that she buy it at her first opportunity. I have seen Brian Bromberg perform at the Reading Jazz festival on two different occasions and would love to see him again perform some of the pieces on this album in concert!

great interpretation of hendrix music, bromberg mixes screaming Vai like melodic solos with his own great solo lines and super poppin and tapping bass solos that Bromberg is so well known for,we can all learn so much from Bromberg , especially us bassists

Bromberg is an unbelievably talented bass virtuoso. Teaming up with Vinnie Colaiuta (ex Mothers of Invention) on drums, this is not your average cover album. It's hard to believe this is just bass and drums. Using multi-track layering and a piccolo bass for the lead bits, it sounds like a three-piece.

Bad, as in, "this dude is a bad ass on the bass". It is clear that Stanley Clarke was or is the influence because it sounds so much like Clarke. The accompanying musicians are first class, especially the the guitarist upon much is depended and who is used as a stong support here.
