This is a fantastic product. Yes, it's a little strange at first -- unless you've spent time in Japan, where these kinds of "washlet" seats are very common. Put simply, this is a much cleaner, much more sanitary, and much more convenient way to take care of your business

1.0 out of 5 stars beware...
The brondell is very good but it doesn't always deliver on its promise. The hot water heater breaks
and the pulsator does not function. Beware most reviews are written shortly after delivery, when the machine is new. I am reviewing this after five months of use.

Amazon is great and makes returning an item very easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Much Better Way to Go, May 29, 2007
This is a fantastic product. Yes, it's a little strange at first -- unless you've spent time in Japan, where these kinds of "washlet" seats are very common. Put simply, this is a much cleaner, much more sanitary, and much more convenient way to take care of your business

The Brondell is very well made. Installation is simple -- it took me about 30 minutes to install myself. The water supply comes from the plumbing already installed in your toilet, and you just plug the cord into a wall outlet. (HINT: If you're doing a bathroom remodel, ask your electrician to install an outlet behind the toilet, about 9 inches above the floor.)

The remote control unit mounts on the wall, and it works very well via an infrared signal. The seat is heated, which is a GREAT feature. The water jets do a very thorough job, they maintain a steady supply of warm water, and they are self-cleaning, which is very nice. Overall, the Brondell is a joy, and it requires almost no maintenance. My only complaint is the visual appearance of the unit. I's not bad, but I wish it had a bit more design flair.

We installed the Brondell in our ground-floor bathroom -- the one that guests use when they visit our home. It's been VERY interesting to see how people react to it. Women in particular are big fans of the heated seat. Some people seem to be a little nervous about trying the washlet feature for the first time, but once they do, most seem to like it. Personally, I've become a huge convert. Once you get used to it, you'll never want to use a plain old toilet again. This is a much, much more civilized way to, um, go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swash Convert, June 11, 2007
By
I rarely come across an item that makes me wonder how I got along before, but the Swash is definitely one of those rare products. You'll quickly get past the first-time user surprise of "hey, oh.... OK, now that's a little different!" and the thought of going back to dry toilet paper after experiencing Brondell's warm water treatment will become laughable.

Installing the Swash was pretty easy, and I had zero prior "plumbing" experience. If the connection hose from your wall to your toilet is flexible hose (luckily mine was), the whole install should be problem free, but if it's metal pipe, that could require significantly more effort to connect that water supply to the Swash.

The primary feature of the Swash is of course the warm-water bidet, but the heated seat is VERY nice on cold nights and the slow-close lid/seat feature is handy, especially if you too have a toddler who thinks that trying to slam doors and lids of all types is great fun.

The Swash is a bit expensive, but the value you'll get out of it everyday makes the price seem more than fair. When the one bathroom in my house with a Swash suddenly became the bathroom that everyone in the family wanted to use, I didn't hesitate to buy a second Swash to keep the peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars A woman's point of view, March 23, 2008
This review is from: Brondell S700-RW Swash 700 Luxury Toilet Seat Round, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
I noticed that all the reviews for this product are from men. Well let me tell you a woman's point of view. I am 9 months pregnant with my first child and all my friends had me paranoid about getting horrible hemorrhoids before and after pregnancy (something no one talks about until after you get pregnant). My husband bought a Swash for me and I am addicted! Not only have I not had one problem throughout my pregnancy, I don't think I can ever go back to a seat that is not heated - and I never expected that to be such a bonus. I have since convinced five of my girlfriends who are pregnant to install a Swash, and everyone thanks me. So pregnant ladies out there, get a Swash, or kind, caring, loving husbands of pregnant women, buy one immediately, your wives will LOVE you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great experience!, May 17, 2007
I never thought I'd want to spend this much on a toilet seat, but oh was it worth it!

My order arrived on time and in an easy to manage package. My neighbor, thank heavens for that man, helped me install the seat. It was easier to install than I expected.

The only downside really is aesthetic since you can't really put a seat cover on it.

Now I will never have a cold toilet seat again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works very well but remote placement limited, July 8, 2008

Works very well and is well designed. The only issue I faced was that the remote only works for me when mounted near to the IR receiver on the unit. It did not work from any other location on the bathroom wall.

We just installed this 3 months ago and it truly is wonderful. Before I bought it, I read the other reviews about the heated seat and was surprised but in the middle of the night, in the winter, it's pretty comforting!

To install the electrical outlet in the bathroom cubicle our handyman pulled a wire down from the light switch which was probably an easier approach than going in the attic and running a new wire down. It seems to work just fine.

Before taking a trip, we unplug it. I called the company and they said that is a good idea.

It's truly a nice luxury!

3/20/11 : Just replaced the batteries in the remote and couldn't get it to work. There were warnings to use the same batteries so we went out and bought the Duracell ultra AAA and sure enough, it works perfectly again. So heed the warning - use the same Duracell ultra batteries. Still no problems with it & still love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Love It !!!!!!!!!!!!!!, November 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just like the men who reviewed Bidet's, I was skeptical and researched this item Brondell S700-EW Swash 700 Luxury Toilet Seat Elongated, White
until I blue in the face. Installation was okay for me since I'm a bit handy. I installed a receptacle in the master bathroom after I researched the power requirement. Upon receiving the item, it took about half an hour to install and set up. Yes, I tried it just in case the wife had questions. To be honest, I was very impressed and would love to buy another one and maybe without the remote. I gave this to my wife for her birthday and her initial comment was, "is it for me or for you". Needless to say she loves it and have let our two daughters to try it and they also love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BRONDELL SWASH 700 ROCKS!, April 27, 2008
By
DEB (SAN FRANCISCO CA USA) - See all my reviews
After visiting Tokyo last year, I fell in love with the Asian style bidet systems. I never knew how to hop onto the Europoean bidets. The Asian style just makes so much more sense! And takes up a lot less space!!!

After having to wait to install an electrical outlet for my Brondell Swash 700, it was up and running in November, 2007. Now after almost 6 months, it works like a charm. During the winter months, it was a nice surprise to sit on the heated seat during the middle of the night.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the Brondell Swash 700 and highly recommend it.
