About the Author

Charlotte Bronte lived from 1816 to 1855. Jane Eyre appeared in 1847 and was followed by Shirley (1848) and Vilette (1853). In 1854 Charlotte Bronte married her father's curate, Arthur Bell Nicholls. She died during her pregnancy on March 31, 1855 in Haworth, Yorkshire. The Professor was posthumously published in 1857.

Emily Bronte lived from 1818 to 1848. She wrote one strikingly innovative novel, Wuthering Heights, and was also a gifted and intense poet. She died of tuberculosis at the age of 30.

Anne Brontë, youngest of the Bronte sisters, was born in 1820. She worked as a governess between 1840 and 1845, after which she published Agnes Grey (1847) and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1848) under the pen-name Acton Bell. Anne Brontë died of tuberculosis in 1849.

Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights are two of my favorite books, so based on that and the beautiful cover art, I purchased this volume. I can now say that Agnes Grey is also one of my favorite books. All of the Bronte sisters together in on book with lovely cover art, what more could a girl ask for. Penquin Classics never disappoints. This book and I spend many a lovely rainy afternoon together , sitting in a comfy chair with a cup of tea. BUY IT! The only thing I will add is that this is not a large print book, so if that is an issue, this may not be for you.

These past two days I have reviewed Jane Eyre and Agnes Grey, by Charlotte and Anne Bronte. I just wanted to take a moment to note the wonderful edition that I read them from. This large (but not too large) volume contains Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Agnes Grey. This was definitely a good book for me, containing all three. Since I really enjoyed Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, I wanted to have my own copy of each book, and I was very happy when I discovered this volume from Penguin Classics, also including Agnes Grey, which I had never read before.

Now, about the formatting. The cover is really nice, kind of dark and moody, as befitting the novels enclosed. On the spine is a picture of another woman, and on the back, a different one, all with the black, bare tree over their faces. Presumably, one represents Jane Eyre, another Cathy, and the third Agnes Grey. The font is fairly small, but not miniscule, and the book is pretty easy to hold. I would definitely recommend this edition of all three novels, though not if you like to see the book spines lined up next to one another (which I normally do.)

I am a huge Charlotte Bronte fan, and Bronte fan in general. I love Jane Eyre, but through this novel I was able to compare the three Bronte sister's works. I gained a new admiration of Anne Bronte through her story included here.

I bought this for my mom. She loves it. The book is a good size, but light enough to carry along on a trip.

Just found this book in the local library. I haven't read Wuthering Heights for several years and wanted to read it again, and found all three of these Bronte books together in one volume. I intend to read them all, especially Anne's novel, which I've never read before. Emily's novel has always been one of my favorites. What can one compare it too? Fitzgerald's Gatsby? Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet? Rostand's Cyrano? It is unique and lives on long after the tragic death of it's author over 165 years ago. Charlotte's complex Jane Eyre, the story of a young girl's love for her employer, whom she eventually marries, after much hardship and doubt and the suicide of his mad wife. (I'll update this review when I finish reading the books.)

I purchased this product on a Thursday, and received it early Saturday morning. I wasn't expecting it until Monday. The book itself is a great read. It's three amazing novels that represent their time, and are staples in literature.
