5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - funny meets talented, September 15, 2003

These guys are talented singers, I'll give you that. Their songs are hilarious. I particularly liked "The Gates", the first song on the album which sings about trying to beat up Bill Gates because your laptop froze up. The Irish drinking song made me double over with laughter - the chros is enough to have you rolling.

The comedy is just of the side of "blue" where it's not filthy but gives you an adolescent giggle.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Album Made Me Break the Law!, September 27, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Brontosaurus (Audio CD)
First, I heard "Another Irish Drinking Song" on a college radio station, and I nearly crashed my car laughing. I bought the CD on the strength of that one track, a practice that often leads to disappointment when none of the other tracks lives up to the standard set by the one that gets the airplay.

Happily, this CD completely defies my experience. There isn't a bad track on it. Trust me. If you like one, you'll like them all. Except for the ones you love.

Now, just how did this thing make me break the law? After listening to the entire thing about a dozen times, I ripped a low-rate copy of "Enormous Penis" and emailed it to my brother. I didn't hear from him for over an hour, which is strange because he lives online. Finally he emailed me back. Apparently, he opened the file and was listening to the song, and had taken a big drink of soda just as the chorus kicked in. He sprayed the whole mouthful all over his monitor and spent the next hour cleaning up Diet Coke.

Once he finished cleaning, he ordered his own copy from Amazon. Then he emailed me.

This same thing happened twice more with other friends. (The purchase, not the spit-take.) So I broke the law, but it resulted in sales for the copyright holders, so nyah-nyah!

This is a great album. Tops musically with great singers and funny songs. It has some mature themes so it probably isn't for kids, but, we like it a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just when you thought it was safe to go back into acapella.., October 4, 2002

The four genius talents that comprise Da Vinci's Notebook have topped the perfection of their second album, "Bendy's Law", with their newest release "Brontosaurus". Their vocal work is stunning, their intelligent wit sharper than ever, and their downright mastery of their chosen field of music is phenomenal! The rolicking good times of the Irish drinking songs make this Irish-American girl laugh aloud while alone in my car, stuck in traffic...and disturbing other drivers with my wild-eyed glee such that some even casually lock their doors. I don't care! This album's tracks make bright forays into so many different genres of music and comedy that there is plenty to delight everyone! From yours truly, who could not carry a tune if it came with handles, I am a jealous fan of their artistry.

You can buy this album for $15 from their website. Don't pay $99!!! Great songs but not worth the $74 mark-up.

This cd is a deliciously funny, brilliantly executed, gut laughing product. Their lyrics are wickedly hilarious. Vocals are surprisingly tight, crisp, and highly enjoyable. It is a delectable experience for your ears.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great album., March 2, 2006

I got this album as a gift when I had mentioned them to my wife after hearing them on the Bob & Tom radio show, so I had heard a couple of the tracks before purchasing. The rest of the album was better than I expected. I'll probably buy more of their albums in the future.

From the opening line of "The Gates", you know your in for a high energy thrill ride. Even the parts that don't quite work (like Richard's Irish?!? accent on "Another Irish Drinking Song") are hysterical. Guaranteed to fill you with joy!

I got this CD for Christmas this year and I'm here to pick up thier first 2 CD's Bendy's Law and The life and times of Mike Flannery. Wow, what great sound they have and a great sense of humor too. If you like Heywood Banks, you'll love these guys.
