5.0 out of 5 stars This is where it's at!, December 13, 2008
This review is from: The Bronx III (Audio CD)
Well first Id like to say that The Bronx are one of the few great rock bands out there at this time. The only other bands that come close that are still making records would be Zeke and The Dwarves. This new release by The Bronx rocks just as hard as theyre last two records. I personally think the first record is still the best, but to each his own. So if you want blood guts and p***y,look no further, here is your new favorite band. I saw them live a few years back open up for The Dwarves at The Middle East in Boston and they stole the show. Thats tough to do.

I've recently decided that Bronx III is my favorite of their albums. It's a perfect combination of the first albums. The more hardcore edge and slightly more melodic rock of the 2nd. The first 5 or 6 songs are among the best they've ever written and their even better live! If you don't own this album I say for shame! Bone up before Bronx IV comes out later this year!

This is still an excellent Rock record, that's first and last to know. However, since no other reviews here are noting this, I think someone should mention that the tempos are slowed down even from II. So, if what you wanted out of the Bronx was the raging hardcore of the first release, you might be let down. If II was about as slow and melodic as you wanted the Bronx to go, you might be let down. For comparison, the tempos on this release are firmly in the "rock" territory, whereas II was in more "punk" territory, and "The Bronx" was in hardcore territory. I don't mind slower and more melodic- it reminds me of other great rock bands, from Rocket from the Crypt to the Riverboat Gamblers to even a little AC/DC. Not to mention that Matt is still in fine voice (he croons a bit on a track or two, but it's mostly his shouted screech)and the production is still much more raw than you'll hear on anything but a punk record. So, if you can stand a more hard rock sensibility than a hardcore sensibility this is still an excellent rock record.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bronx Très, November 26, 2008

This is an unforgiving, driving, unrelenting intense record by a grossly underappreciated band. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars super!, November 17, 2008

A top notch release --but at this point, all I expect from The Bronx are the highest of notches so it's of no surprise.
