4.0 out of 5 stars Trip Down Memory Lane
This was a wonderful reminisience of my childhood in The Bronx from shopping at Alexander's, Loehman's and the Palace Movie theater. Even found Mayers Ice Cream Parlor on E 219th Street and White Plains Road where I used to get sundaes and the best egg creams made by Joe Brancato! Never found one better. And the piece I noticed was written by my St. Mary's grade...

3.0 out of 5 stars book okay, but shipping terrible
The book was in good shape, but it took 3 1/2 weeks for me to receive it. Not really the most convenient. It says that it was via media mail, but I just ordered something else via media mail and it got here within 2 days.

Even found Mayers Ice Cream Parlor on E 219th Street and White Plains Road where I used to get sundaes and the best egg creams made by Joe Brancato! Never found one better. And the piece I noticed was written by my St. Mary's grade schoolmate, Carlo Gambino!! Lots of great photos. I highly recommend this book.

This review is from: The Bronx Lost, Found, and Remembered 1935-1975 (Hardcover)
This book takes me back to my childhood days of living in the Bronx, from 1938 to 1965. I moved back to the Bronx again for four more years, from 1983-1987. In a way, it was good to be back, living near Bronx Park, the Botanical Gardens, and the Bronx River walk again.
