A superbly presented autobiographical story,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bronx Primitive - Portraits in a Childhood (Great Jewish Books on Audiotape) (Audio Cassette)
Bronx Primitive: Portraits In A Childhood is Kate Simon's superbly presented autobiographical story of a Jewish immigrant girl's coming-of-age experiences in New York in the opening decades of the 20th Century. The harsh realities of 1916 New York City for the Jewish immigrant community in general, and Kate Simon in particular, are wonderfully expressed with a flowing narrative showcasing a young girls dreams, hopes, and possibilities. Enhanced with an informative introduction by actress Bea Arthur, and magnificently narrated by Barbara Rosenblat, this complete and unabridged audiobook edition of Kate Simon's Bronx Primitive is a welcome and highly recommended addition to personal, community library, Women's Studies, 20th Century American History, and Judaic Studies audiobook collections. (Running Time: 9 hours).
