Book Description

The inspiring true story of a teen suddenly paralyzed, facing the challenges of her disability and finding extraordinary strength, glory and love along the way.

A fresh high school graduate, Kerri-Anne Connor’s first love is the water. She and her friends from Nobby’s Beach are the first women in Australia to gain their Bronze medallions for Surf Life Saving. On the eve of the year 1981 on the Gold Coast, Australia, this active teenager’s life is about to shatter and transform her once perfect world into one of despair as she tackles a life of paralysis. Through the support of her friends and family, Kerri will find her way back to the water and into the history books.
A memoir filled with joy, tears, letters and poetry of a time when all else seemed lost. A life of hopes, dreams, love and humility learnt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing true story May 6, 2012
By Linda
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Can you imagine what it must be like to have an accident and end up in a wheel chair? Kerri-Anne was only 17, just finished high school, and with her life ahead of her when she suddenly became paralised. The doctors could not explain what had occurred. No accident, infection or incident had preceded this cruel and life-changing condition. For such a keen surfer, swimmer, basketball player etc it was devastating. But Kerri-Anne bravely worked through the experience and surmounted every challenge it presented. Her story is inspiring to say the least. I couldn't put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bronze May 20, 2012
By Sue

This book is truly inspiring. It certainly makes you think twice about whining about the little things in life. My admiration for this woman is endless with how she coped with what she was dealt with through no fault of her own. Her sporting achievements were amazing and her determination endless. Well done. A great read for all ages...

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and well-written book July 17, 2012
By Tkeisha

I just happened upon this book and thought I'd give it a try last night. Well 5 hours later I finished it and WOW!! What an incredible story of strength and courage. I love how real the author is about her life and challenges. She doesn't hold back in telling her story and it makes you feel like you are there, right beside her as she goes through some of the most horrible and then awe-inspiring moments a person can face. I hope she writes more books and I hope that her story inspires people, as it has inspired me to live my life to the fullest.
