About the Author

Ivory Abena Black, a resident of Milwaukee is a cultural anthropologist with a degree in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ms. Black has tackled environmental issues at the grass roots level and cultural traditions abroad in Ghana and West Africa, she has conducted cultural walking tours with Urban Anthropology, focusing on the History of African Americans in Milwaukee. She is the International Organizer for the Ethiopian World Federation Incorporated. She is the writer and researcher for The Milwaukee Courier Newspaper, as well as a researcher co-producer of Punching In a documentary. Ms Black has taught applied anthropology courses at Marquette University.
