I absolutely loved the movie! I rented it because I was an "extra" who was cast in several scenes filmed in Berlin, MD. Although I ended up on the cutting room floor, I am so glad I took the time to watch it. The movie was heartwarming, full of hilarious moments (dark, slap stick, romantic, just about all comedic elements). The music and vocals were really catchy and cool. The vocals had a sort of Jack Johnson feel to them. As far as Indy films go, this was one of the better ones I have seen. I had a good mix of drama, humor, a little suspense and a great story line! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, don't have to think too hard, movie that leaves you just a bit more upbeat when you are done then when you sat down.

Way to go Ryan, you nailed this one!!

Taken from my blog christopherspring.blogspot.com

This was a film that I hadn't heard anything about even when I had picked up the DVD headed up to the counter and bought it off one of the few HMV employees in the country to keep his job. Upon buying it I quickly asked the man if he'd heard of this film. His shrugging response gave the impression that he a) wasn't really that thankful for his job being saved and b) that a moose on the front cover doesn't impress everyone... I know, I was shocked to find this out too.

From the opening scene I knew that my moose-inspired investment was a piece of genius. Roughly, the film is about a struggling musician who ends up, through some pretty funny circumstances if you're not the person himself (including punching a "retarded" kid in the face), going up on tour with a musician who has made it his aim to be the best musician in the world on children's instruments. The film is about their trip across America and their tumultuous friendship, but the different sound that the children's instruments give them is an insight into the characters' humorous state of mind. The banter is hilarious, with what looks like genuine affection between the actors as well as the characters. There are some brilliantly touching scenes, especially when we meet his family, and the points the film makes about making the best out of circumstances out of their control is a message which anyone that needs cheering up can get behind.

Just to say, the music is awesome. Especially the first time they play together. Really cool. Really happy. And they have got an album on Spotify! Jackpot.

Really this reminds me of Once, but with the same "on the road" feel as Little Miss Sunshine, at times slightly dark but mainly just a little bit silly.

I was wanting to watch this for some time; when I saw that I could buy it on Amazon I was elated.
A close friend of mine had shared the soundtrack with me which made the movie look so appealing.
I enjoyed it. It wasn't a big name movie but it definitely had it's good moments and I appreciated its worth.

I first saw Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best at the Gasparilla Film Festival in 2012. I loved it! It quickly became one of my favorite films that year. The music is great and Ryan O'Nan, Michael Weston and Arielle Kebbel are excellent. I also enjoyed Andrew McCarthy's performance as the older brother. The story has a lot of heart and leaves you feeling good to be alive!
