About Majestic Athletic
The Majestic Athletic story began in the 1950s, when Mary Capobianco endeavored to open her own sewing mill. After working in the booming garment industry of Bangor, Pennsylvania, she realized she could work just as hard for herself and get much more in return. She started with women's clothing, blouses mostly. The company was called Maria Rose Fashions, and served well-dressed women from coast to coast. It was a far cry from athletic apparel, but it demanded the same attention to detail.

After learning the garment business first-hand, her son Faust Capobianco III followed in her footsteps. In 1976, he founded the Majestic Athletic you know today. Well, almost. The spirit was there, but the company hadn't made it to the big leagues yet. That happened in 1982, when Majestic introduced its first Major League Baseball batting practice jersey. This relationship grew in 1984 when the company signed its first MLB National Licensing Agreement, which brought fans the high-quality apparel they needed to truly show their team's colors.

This is advertised as a replica jersey, but Jackie Robinson never wore a Dodgers jersey with Brooklyn across the front. Maybe you like the Brooklyn logo, and that's fine if you do. But it seems to me a "replica" should have some basis in reality. I sent it back and found a real replica.

From Wikipedia: "As the first black man to play in the major leagues since the 1880s, he was instrumental in bringing an end to racial segregation in professional baseball. Robinson broke the baseball color line when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947." An iconic sports hero for sure!

I purchased this Brooklyn Dodgers Jackie Robinson Replica Jersey in Medium for my husband who has a 40" chest. I'm glad I didn't order a Large, as it's roomy enough that he could have easily worn a small.

The fit is loose and it's as pictured with 'Brooklyn' on the front, and the back having the number 42 and 'Robinson' on it. Did you know that in 1997 all MLB teams retired the number '42' in honor of Jackie Robinson? Pretty cool I thought.

The letters and numbers are stitched on and the quality of the shirt is good. Made in Indonesia, the fabric is the usual nylon synthetic used in most jerseys - without a hint of cotton. This one isn't going to shrink at all, and it's a tad rough to the touch, but most wear these shirts with another shirt underneath so it's not that big a deal - just something a wife would notice.

Overall I'm really happy with this jersey from Majestic. I got it at 80% off, so maybe that's part of it, but mostly it's because I know how happy my husband will be to wear it.
