I'm not a runner, but I was fit with this shoe in a store that specializes in orthotics and was very glad they pulled out a wide version because I didn't know I needed it. My feet tend to roll in, and the foot bed on this shoe pulls out so I can insert a firmer orthotic with a higher arch. Even without it, I had been wearing Brooks shoes with the linear footbed in similar styles that did help my pronation problem to a degree. This shoe out of all the Brooks I've worn in the past seems to have the widest and most stable base of all that I've tried. I liked them so much I bought 2 pairs and am thinking of getting a third. They also breathe really well.

I need stability and cushioning and this shoes is superior to any shoe I've tried.

This is the 3rd version of the Addiction I have owned and I am not happy with the 9. The toe box is smaller/snug. I noticed it the moment I put it on. I ran to the computer and there was was "And now with the new softer, more smooth and supple upper." Brooks changed my shoe!!!! Its not the same shoe in the way that is important to me. I have a bunion on my left foot and the Addiction was my addiction for keeping it pain free. In the 7 & 8 versions, I was able to move my toes up and down without touching any part of the toe box, yet still have the shoe firmly tied through the arch and heel. I have had these for over a week and I have been lacing the shoe multiple ways trying to get get it right and I can't. The sole and foot bed feel the same it just seems tighter around my bunion and toes :-( I am soooo disappointed. The appearance of the shoe is cuter, but that was never the reason I chose this shoe in the first place.

I've walk miles with my dog every day, and I'd developed foot problems. At my podiatrist's recommendation, I tried Brooks Addiction shoes and Lynco inserts. The problems went away. That says it all!

I have had problems with extremely flat feet the majority of my life. I've tried just about every tennis shoe brand in the market. About 6 months ago I purchased a pair of these Brooks Addiction 9 running shoes, and now I'm fully convinced I will be sticking to this brand. So here's the run down:

PROS:
very supportive if you have collapsed arches and extreme flat feet.
Eliminates back pain, and knee pain due to the higher platform of the shoe.
Sturdy.
Corrects rolling motion of heel, ball of foot strike.
Good shoe for cross training.
Accommodates custom orthopedic insoles.

CONS:
Expensive, when they first came out they were closer to $130.00.
Look like diabetic orthopedic shoes, not at all attractive.
Not much of a selection in colors.
Bulky, and slightly heavy.
Look big on the foot.
They have to be broken in, till they mold to your feet.

Regardless of all the cons I'm to the point were I prefer comfort and overall pain free workouts, over the looks of the shoe... highly recommend this shoe for one who is a severe over pronator, who is tired of foot, knee and back pain due to wearing ill fitting shoes.

Unfortunately, like two other reviewers, we received shoes with yellowed plastic trim. While the shoes appear fine and fit well other than this issue, we have begun an exchange process as the yellowing raises concerns about durability. While these are wonderful shoes (the third pair my wife will own) this is the first time we've purchased shoes from Amazon and am concerned about the other review that said their replacements came yellowed. If that happens to us, we'll definitely go back to the local running store. Fingers crossed. Will update when we receive our replacement.

UPDATE: We received replacement shoes (real fast, free overnight shipping, Amazon again gets high marks for great service) but... more yellowed trim! Arrgh. We're giving this supplier one more chance; if we receive yet another yellowed pair of shoes we're giving up. (And really the only reason we're trying again is because our local running shop is ordering these which takes a week so we have the time to try for the less expensive Amazon order.) Will update again when we get the THIRD pair.

Great fit (I ordered wide). Great support (my feet pronate). Great breathability (mesh allows my feet to stay comfortably cool).

I got these on sale last year and go workout four times a week. they were great from the beginning but when they started to get stretched out I went and bought another type which was cheaper. Well my feet rebelled and I wound up getting another pair of these Brooks Addiction. I will not make the same mistake when these wear out. They are worth every penny.

Got these for the wife who has a very narrow foot. She loved the style and the fit. Has worn them every day since and finds them comfortable enough to wear all day.

I have always purchased the Brooks Addiction Walkers but felt I needed a cooler, breathable shoe for the summer.
After calling the company and verifying that this is the same base as the walker, I ordered these.
They are extremely comfortable. The only thing I would say is to be sure about the size. I wear a 9 in most shoes but after being fitted for the Brooks at a local shoe store, I got a 9.5. For some reason this mesh top feels a bit shorter than the usual 9.5. Perhaps it's just the soft top that is giving me that feeling...or maybe they do run just the smallest bit shorter.
