5.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoe for Ice, Mud, and other nasty conditions, February 14, 2010

I bought this shoe because the snow this winter has been horrible but I still wanted to run. I do about half trails, half road, and this shoe handles it all. I was worried that because of the insulation they would be too warm as my feet sweat a lot, but my feet stay dry, even when running in 8+ inches of snow. Great traction, so much better than trying to run these trails in the GTS. On the road, they feel fine, no real trail shoe feeling but more like a road shoe. They are comfortable and feel light as well. In fact they feel just like the GTS but a little more snug, and more traction.

I've only done around 20 miles on them as I got them last week, but if they are anything like my other Brooks they'll last quite awhile.

I highly recommend these for anyone looking for a do-it-all shoe.

4.0 out of 5 stars reliable traction, easy ride, February 7, 2011

I got these hybrid trail shoes for running trails, sure, but they've also proven indispensible for winter running on roads and sidewalks. The traction is much more reliable than regular running shoes, allowing me to run confidentally on wet surfaces and snow. They still slip on ice, but everything short of spikes does, too.

These may be a little lightweight for serious trail running -- no plate to help with rock impacts, and they're not waterproof -- but for running on variable conditions, I haven't encountered a better all-around shoe. I typically wear light stability shoes and run about 20 mi/wk.
