I bought these shoes for two reasons:

1. Trail running
2. Hiking

Unless you are going on a terribly difficult multi day trail, trail runners are absolutely the best show for day hikes. These do not disappoint. They are easily one of the most comfortable shoes I've purchased in a long while. They provide enough support for running, and breathe very well (my feet never feel hot).

Please note that these are bright yellow. If you have the right personality, that can be a nice plus, but either way you will stand out and people will notice them =).

so far I have taken these for a spin on a few trail runs, and have been exceptionally pleased. They have great base support on the bottom as well as nice treads, though the shoe is still appropriate for some road running as well (some trail runners are not!). They are fairly heavy suckers, but that's the price you pay for stability. Appropriate for those who are interested in a solid trail running shoe, also appropriate for day hikes. Note that they do come in two colors, I think the red is actually less flashy than the yellow (especially after you get some dirt on them...)

I am a huge fan of Brooks running shoes, first falling in love with the 2008 Trance model. I figured I would be safe going trying another Brooks model for my first trail running shoe. The fit is exceptional and the comfort is just what I've come to expect from Brooks. What was such a huge and beneficial surprise was the amazing traction and grip that these trail shoes offer. In comparison to other trails shoes I researched, the traction design of the Cascadia appears much better, but after testing them I am confident these shoes are superior. The trails that I've challenged myself on are quite technical and have been very wet as of late and these shoes are all out performers. The black/yellow version is quite eye-catching and have already seen their share of compliments. All in all, a great trail shoe that looks good and performs very well in off-road conditions.

I have ran two trail marathons and one half marathon and a few 10Ks all on trail( Bridle and Single Track) in these shoes and no blisters or soreness afterwards.
Traction is great for dry or wet trail with dirt or mud, however you must be extremely careful while running in these shoes on wet rock and damp wooden bridges. I have even found that they are slippery during or after rain if you wear them on streets and on hard floors.

I have used quite a few trail shoes before. However, this pair of Brooks Cascadia 4 is quickly becoming my best new friend, urban or in the back country.

I read some other reviews that said better not using this pair in the city street. My personal experience is that they are "over-protective", if you use them in the urban setting. Nothing wrong with using them around the 'hood though.

In the back country, however, it is when these Cascadia4 shine. They do help stabilize your steps. I used them in very rocky trails, sand beaches, wet hikes, ... They performed very well. They are also light and breathable.

Bottom line, if you are packing for a 3-season long trip with both cities and back country hiking in your itinerary, this Cascadia4 probably are the only sports footwear you will need.

great shoe But the color was too bright so i had to return it and i bought the same shoe in a different color.
