I run about 5 times a week (35-40 miles total), and I rotate running shoes to give them more time to recover. For my shorter, faster runs, I wear Saucony Progrid Kinvaras, and for my longer, slower runs, I had been wearing Nike Air Pegasus 28s. However, I burned through two pairs of those, and I had a third pair but I gave them to my dad. Unfortunately, the 28s went out of production, and for the Pegasus 29s, Nike apparently did a drastic redesign, which many 28 lovers have given thumbs down. Well, my local running store didn't have 29s in my size anyway, so I didn't test them out. I did test the Brooks Glycerin 11, as well as the Nike Lunar Glide and a pair of ASICs (I can't remember the exact model).

I fell in love with the Glycerin almost immediately. It's soft all around, so there are no places where it irritates my foot (top, side, or bottom). It's not a flat shoe (i.e., the heel has more cushioning than the forefoot), so obviously if you are into serious forefoot strike, you probably won't like this shoe. I tend to midfoot strike on long slow runs, and I feel like this shoe really babies my feet. The toebox is roomy without being so large as to encourage blisters.

In terms of color, the blue is pretty bright, but it probably makes for a good safety feature. The back of the shoe does contain a reflective patch as well.

I have worn Glycerin since the 9's and loved the 10. It was a masterpiece. The 11's are garbage and I am very disappointed. The ride isn't bad and I've been fine in terms of support and cushioning and have had no issues with pains, however these shoes fall apart after 50 miles and the toebox is horrible. Both pairs of 11's I've had have developed holes above my big toe almost immediately. Brooks sent me a replacement pair and the next pair did the same thing as well as the plastic material on the side front started coming off like tape within 50 miles. I'm sending them a complaint on this and telling them if they are going to replace it with a new pair of 11's again I will donate them to charity.

The toebox is horrible. It is much narrower than the last two versions and the material is shoddy and cannot withstand any mileage. The 10 was my favorite shoe ever and now I'm looking at trying to find a replacement. I hear the 12's are even narrower and it looks like the toebox material is just as shoddy as in the 11's. I love the ride of these shoes overall, but if they cannot hold together what's the point.

I run about 30-45 miles a week depending on my schedule and replace these every 4 months or so. Time to start researching my next brand. Don't waste your time with these once remarkable shoes. Disappointed in Brooks having ruined a wonderful shoe that have provided me with 1000's of miles.

Ok so I returned from Afghanistan approx. a month ago and Im a heavier runner weighting 200lbs. My feet are an important detail when it comes to running. While I was overseas I suggested it was time to retire my Glycerin 9 because the "toe box" was small I guess any ways my pinky toe put a hole in the shoe. Ive read in previous reviews that this is common which this particular shoe. But after awhile I grew tired of seeing the hole. Ok so since then Ive purchased Asics Gel-Noosa Tri8, Nike Pegasus, Brooks Ravenna, and Asics Gel-Kayano 20. At the time I was running 20+ miles a week and none of these shoes "made the cut" I am happy with the Glycerin 11 so far I have had them for over a week and haven't had to stop running from my feet being too sore. The furthest Ive put on them in a single session is approx. 6 miles. The "toe box" feels fine so I guess I'll just have to wait and see if I produce another hole. So basically they look good and feel great no complaints from me. On the specs it says the shoe is Neutral as far as support, comfort, high arch or whatever spec you may need for a comfortable shoe.......so if you're looking for a good shoe and you're a heavy person that runs a lot I would recommend this shoe. One more note I am aware that some comfortable shoes that are made for support are heavy like New Balance for example or the Brooks Beast.... I would say these are just right not to heavy not really light. Don't waste your money testing the waters with different shoes like I did.

These are a little wide in the toe area, but it's way better than them being smashed together. These shoes are also very comfortable. I would highly recommend them.

I was shopping for a shoe that would help me get back on the road running again after knee surgery and osteoarthritis in many of my joints. This shoe met and exceeded all of my expectations. I read the reviews and was impressed by the positive feedback I saw. I also reviewed some other running sources and saw great reviews. These are by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. Day 1 running was like being on a feather bed with these shoes. Love love love!

Very comfortable as I expected, since I have been wearing Brooks Running Shoes now for about 5 years maybe more. I had the Glycerin 9 but I wanted to upgrade & got the Glycerin 11 & I am very satisfied with my purchase. And I really love the colors. The only negative is the price but it is worth the purchase & I don't regret it. Sometimes you have to pay more to get the best. And therefore, I still gave these sneakers a 5 stars rating.
