5.0 out of 5 stars Best saddle for upright riding
The Brooks B67 (B67S for women) is basically the best saddle available for upright (sit up) riding position. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
This was not my first Brooks saddle. I have a B17 I've been riding for years. I bought the B67 for my touring bike. After my first ride I had to turn the adjustment nut five times. After my second, the saddle was very loose and I needed to turn the nut 7 or 8 times. Bottom line, the leather stretches way too fast. I punched and laced it, but still sagging. I would...

The Brooks B67 (B67S for women) is basically the best saddle available for upright (sit up) riding position. The saddle was created not for a racing position (see the B17 for that) but rather for the straight up position where most of your weight is on your sit bones and your handlewars are typically higher or close to the level of the seat. It does its job exceedingly well and there is no more comfortable saddle available than a broken in Brooks B67 for that type of riding. It would work well with commuter or urban bikes as well as with hybrid or comfort bikes. I would not use one if the seat post itself has a shock absorber though and you do need to consider the handlebar style and position to get the benefit of this saddle (no drop bars for example). If this relaxed riding style/position is what you are after then look no further for a saddle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just crossed the 100 mile mark...., July 23, 2009

Saddle's are a very hard thing to review due to the fact that what fits one person may not fit another. That being said I can at least review this saddle for its quality construction and how it fits me. The construction is fantastic, the leather is high quality and the components all seem to be very heavy duty. I have gone through 5 different saddles, some of them costing more than this one and was limited to no more than about 45 minuets of riding before I could not stand it any longer. From the first ride this saddle fit me perfect. I can truly ride until my legs are tired instead of having to stop when my butt just can't take it anymore! I ride about 150 miles a week and could not be more pleased with the comfort. Plus this is a very classy upgrade to my bike.

On a note about purchasing this, I bought it from wellington bikes (google them) - they offer a 6 month return policy (!) -- makes it much less scary to order a 100.00+ bike saddle! I can tell you already that after only 160ish miles I am sure I am keeping this saddle.

Good luck and happy trails!

I bought this saddle for my Jamis Commuter II, a bike meant to be ridden in a relatively upright position--and what a combination they make! I'm not a pro rider: I ride only about 40-60 minutes per day as therapy for the arthritis in my kness, and for my general health. The saddle that came with the bike was very soft, cushiony, and looked well made; however, after about 15 minutes of riding, it would feel uncomfortable, creating numbness in the area between my legs.

The Brooks B67 not only solved my problem with numbness, but for some reason it also puts me a more efficient riding position. The saddle looks great, feels great (especially after a little conditioning), and makes riding more fun for me.

If you end up purchasing this saddle, I would offer a couple of tips. First, go ahead and buy the Brooks Proofide conditioner. I know it's expensive, but it really does work well. Second, get rid of your suspension seat post, if you have one, and replace with a staionary one. This saddle has springs in it, and really eliminates the need for any additional suspension. You can get a good Laprade-style stationay seat post for $15-$20 at most local bike shops.

5.0 out of 5 stars So comfortable I forgot it was even there., November 8, 2011

This was my first saddle that I ever actually paid money for. Does that mean someone didn't pay money for the ones I got from the junk pile or from Goodwill or wherever? Probably not, but if they were something truly as prized as like, a one hundred dollar saddle, I don't think they'd have made it to the junk pile. I'm rambling.

I ride upright, with big wide Soma Oxford bars on an enormous Surly cargo bike with this thing, so the saddle is just perfect for my riding posture and it conformed to my behind from day one. In fact, it required no breaking in whatsoever. I knew this saddle was the real deal when I did a ride up to Mt. Fuji (about 180km round trip from where I'm at.) and I forgot it was even there. I literally was on a saddle for like, 11 hours that day, crawling uphill for well over half of that time. I might've been on the wrong kind of bike for that kind of trek, maybe, but I sure didn't think so. What an adventure.

It really is a fine saddle and offers excellent comfort. I've treated the leather with proofride just once in it's 3000 miles of service and ride it with a saddle cover when it's raining and the thing is as lustrous and like new as the day I got it. Just a well made and invaluable piece of gear. I rode a WTB saddle before this one and it literally hurt me. Don't skimp on the saddle!

Ooh yeah, keep it secured to your bike with something and covered when you're not riding it. Just sayin'.

The Brooks saddle was slightly damaged due to a packaging problem with the manufacturer. Bell's Bike Shop was very helpful and quickly sent out a replacement. Good customer service

5.0 out of 5 stars Brooks B-67.. Very nice in the right application., August 6, 2011
I bought a B-67 at the beginning of last season, and put it on my Cinelli Supercorsa. For the uninitiated, the Cinelli is a thoroughbred racing bike, mine is a very old one from late 1950's or very early '60's. The seat hurt me for many miles, and the springs messed with my ability to pedal hard. As soon as I started pouring on the power, the springs would start bouncing and kill any rhythm I had in my pedaling. The seat was also a very hard surface, and felt like I was riding on a piece of slate. If you do any serious road riding, this seat is not for you. *BUT*

After I removed it from the racing bike, I went to Ace Hardware and bought a bottle of neatsfoot oil. I put the saddle in a freezer (ziplock) baggie, and poured the whole bottle of oil in the bag- then let it soak overnight. The next day I put the remainder of the oil back in the bottle, and dried off the seat as best as I could, then let it soak up the sun for a few days. I then mounted it on a cruiser style bike, dressed the top surface with Brooks Proofide, and buffed the top with a soft horsehair brush, followed by a terrycloth towel. I fell in love with the seat within the first 50 miles. It is spectacular on the cruiser style bike. I rode it for the rest of last season (daily), and still ride it every day. I just had to stretch it (adjust the nose bolt) last week, as it has finally softened and stretched to a point where it was starting to have too much give for my tastes. It has conformed to my backside, and is like riding on a horse saddle that has been worn in over many years. Still looks fantastic (although darker since I gave it the big oil treatment). My only caution if you choose to use this method is that you will need to wear black bike shorts when you ride the seat, or chance getting residual oil stains on the seat of your pants. When you get to be my age, oil stains on the seat of the pants are highly suspicious, and to be avoided. ;)

All in all, the oil has now stopped marking my jeans and the seat feels like heaven. This was not my first leather saddle, but it was the first one I bought brand new. Construction is great, materials are great, but it needs to be on a bike that is ridden upright position. Highly recommended. My oldest son has been trying different saddles for his comfort bike (he rides a Brooks B-17 Imperial on his 1964 Schwinn Paramount), and has decided to go with a B-67 after having tried mine a few times.

just a perfect saddle, everything about it is great, it has been hurting my butt for the past month but within that pain is an underlying sense of comfort. with each day it becomes more and more comfortable and I look forward to the day that this thing is like putty under my butt.

2.0 out of 5 stars My butt hates it!!, July 18, 2011
There does indeed seem to be a lot of great reviews for this saddle, and that's the basis upon which I bought it. But boy did my bony butt hate it! There's a lot of talk about how it eventually molds to shape your butt better and consequently improves comfort, but I'm not going to sit on what feels like a piece of steel and suffer for weeks to see if that actually happens. It immediately causes pain in my butt and the area right behind my scrotum (whatever that's called! ha) When I put the Bontrager seat back on that came with the Trek bike, it was immediate and heavenly relief! I'll be selling the Brooks saddle or trashing it. I can't refute those who love this saddle. We're all slightly physiologically different. All I can say is to try before you but if possible.
