I was fitted in these shoes before a half marathon and I ended up running in a previous pair.
This is my third pair of brooks addiction shoes, I love the support I get from them and they are the only brand I wear.
No break in time, I wear them with comfort right out of the box.I really love these shoes.

I'm not a runner, but I was fit with this shoe in a store that specializes in orthotics and was very glad they pulled out a wide version because I didn't know I needed it. My feet tend to roll in, and the foot bed on this shoe pulls out so I can insert a firmer orthotic with a higher arch. Even without it, I had been wearing Brooks shoes with the linear footbed in similar styles that did help my pronation problem to a degree. This shoe out of all the Brooks I've worn in the past seems to have the widest and most stable base of all that I've tried. I liked them so much I bought 2 pairs and am thinking of getting a third. They also breathe really well.

This is the 3rd version of the Addiction I have owned and I am not happy with the 9. The toe box is smaller/snug. I noticed it the moment I put it on. I ran to the computer and there was was "And now with the new softer, more smooth and supple upper." Brooks changed my shoe!!!! Its not the same shoe in the way that is important to me. I have a bunion on my left foot and the Addiction was my addiction for keeping it pain free. In the 7 & 8 versions, I was able to move my toes up and down without touching any part of the toe box, yet still have the shoe firmly tied through the arch and heel. I have had these for over a week and I have been lacing the shoe multiple ways trying to get get it right and I can't. The sole and foot bed feel the same it just seems tighter around my bunion and toes :-( I am soooo disappointed. The appearance of the shoe is cuter, but that was never the reason I chose this shoe in the first place.

I have had problems with extremely flat feet the majority of my life. I've tried just about every tennis shoe brand in the market. About 6 months ago I purchased a pair of these Brooks Addiction 9 running shoes, and now I'm fully convinced I will be sticking to this brand. So here's the run down:

    PROS:
very supportive if you have collapsed arches and extreme flat feet.
Eliminates back pain, and knee pain due to the higher platform of the shoe.
    Sturdy.
Corrects rolling motion of heel, ball of foot strike.
    Good shoe for cross training.
    Accommodates custom orthopedic insoles.

    CONS:
Expensive, when they first came out they were closer to $130.00.
Look like diabetic orthopedic shoes, not at all attractive.
Not much of a selection in colors.
    Bulky, and slightly heavy.
    Look big on the foot.
They have to be broken in, till they mold to your feet.

Regardless of all the cons I'm to the point were I prefer comfort and overall pain free workouts, over the looks of the shoe... highly recommend this shoe for one who is a severe over pronator, who is tired of foot, knee and back pain due to wearing ill fitting shoes.

My left foot is a half size larger than my right, my right foot was crushed some 20 years ago, taking 2.5 hours of reconstrucive surgery to repair, and can be very tempermarmental. I usually wear a womens size 8...sometimes a size 8.5. A year ago I bought a pair of Brooks size 8.5 thinking that I was playing it safe. Well, the shoes were too short. Today I bought these shoes in a size 9.5!!! They fit perfect. my toe on my larger foot comes a little less than a .5 inch from the end. I had these fitted, and I am shocked at wearing a size 9.5, but dog-gone-it they fit. A good friend of mine also purchased these shoes a full size larger than she takes in other shoes. By the way, people who have wide feet recommend these shoes, I can't imagine because my feet are narrow and still have fairly high arches. My guess is that good tie shoes can serve people with a number of different widths.

I have no arches and I am training for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day so I needed shoes with motion control, I previously had 2 pairs of Addiction 8's and since the Addicition 10's came out the price on the 9's dropped so I got a pair. I am very happy with the Addiction 9's, they are quickly getting broken in. These are technically running shoes but they are just as valuable for walking too!

I tried for years to get comfortable walking and working out in "cross-trainers" until I realized in 2008, when I did my first 3-Day, that motion control shoes are an essential for all the training I was doing. If you have no arches and you are not using "motion control" shoes spend the extra money on these shoes, your ankles and joints will thank you in the years to come. Good Luck!

Good price on this shoe, but it's an older style, so the parts of the white trim have turn yellow. If you want a "pretty" new shoe, don't buy it! As far as the shoe is concerned, this is my second pair of Brooks Addiction. If your ankles pronate (roll in) it's a great shoe to keep your ankles straight. I ended up buying the wide, which helps with the narrower toe box in Addiction 9.

I've walk miles with my dog every day, and I'd developed foot problems. At my podiatrist's recommendation, I tried Brooks Addiction shoes and Lynco inserts. The problems went away. That says it all!
