Customer Reviews

It's almost like a cute little sculpture on my desk.

It feels substantial when you first pick it up, but open the battery compartment and it's very cheap (thin) plastic.

My older Timex alarm clock uses one battery, which lasts at least a year.

Mine's still going after 2 years. Received this as a gag gift at the office Christmas party. It shows the time, temperature, calendar, and has an alarm and countdown timer. Not sure I would pay full price for it.

The biggest downside to this product (besides price) is that it absolutely chews through batteries. I must change the batteries in it a few times a year, whereas other similar clocks I have get changed about once every 2-3 years. Also would like the option to select the color independent from the display mode. Also wouldn't mind better quality construction. It feels substantial when you first pick it up, but open the battery compartment and it's very cheap (thin) plastic.

My daughters rec'd these for Christmas and they broke within 4 months. Brookstone won't stand behind them without a receipt even though everyone I speak to who had one says it broke. Its ridiculous that they keep selling it when they fail so soon after the purchase.

The design is cool and all, but the battery consumption is absolutely ridiculous. It uses *three* batteries, which last about a month. My older Timex alarm clock uses one battery, which lasts at least a year. I wouldn't consider using this clock ethical unless I used it with rechargeable batteries. For now, I'm back to my old clock.

Bought this clock a few months ago. The 12 bucks seemed reasonable. There are a few things that I like: 1) The design is neat. Even when I think that it is going to fall over after a "good" tap, it pops right back up (not necessarily in the same spot that it was orginially-but at least it is still standing. 2) I like the fact that I can just touch it to change modes. The light is bright enough to see. 3) I also like that is displays the temperature--it seems pretty accurate.

I DO NOT like: The biggest problem that I have with this clock is that the alarm is not LOUD enough. I'm a very sound sleeper and I found myself questioning if I had correctly set the alarm since I never heard it. The alarm is pretty much the only thing that I NEED. Since it isn't loud enough to wake me up, I have to give it 1 Star. Brookstone should have made the alarm louder OR put a switch in there where you have a choice for a louder alarm.

If you need a louder alarm to get you going in the morning, stay away from this clock!

The clock works fine, and I enjoy the temperature function. However it sometimes beeps when changing to other functions, i.e. timer or date, when it is not touched. The constant random beeping does get a little annoying.

I use the alarm on my phone to wake up, so I didn't need the alarm on my Bob -- but if I did have to I would be in trouble. beep beep, really softly. On the other hand, for my purposes it is super cool. Love the touch colors, the temp right there, the countdown timer. Pretty nifty.

I like my little "Bob"--I got it as a gift several years ago, and just recently dug it out of a drawer, put in batteries and began using it. But there are issues with it. The current price seems extravagant for what you get. It was given to me as something of a "joke" gift, and I assume the giver paid the original, much lower price. But I do like the fun, mod design, and all the functions are cool. The soft alarm is a problem for me as it is for some other reviewers, it rarely wakes me up. Also, my clock beeps at odd times--is it changing mode? Or do the beeps come when the hour changes (I am usually trying to sleep when this happens, so I haven't always investigated) But I have the mode change function locked (the little switch that is inside the clock, which I thought was supposed to stop it from switching modes if it rocked). Also, when it is dark in my bedroom, I have noticed a flash of what looks like white light coming from the clock. I am not sure what is happening with that --is it changing modes, and the light looks white for an instant as it switches, or is something else going on? Has anyone else had this happen? The little instruction sheet doesn't mention any of these things, so I don't know if they are misfunctions or not. I will see how the clock works long term.
