A quirky murder mystery that leaves you guessing until the end. Luanne Mayfair didnt have the best home life growing up and she couldnt wait to leave for college. But not long after life threw her another curve ball when she became the guardian of her twin half sisters when her mother died. Working as a maid at a hotel run by a sleeze ball wasnt exactly on her list of dream jobs. After waking up following a night of being stood up by a date and realizing she doesnt remember anything past the second drink then hearing her boss was run over and killed, the big dent in the front of her car has her figuring her bad luck streak is still on a roll. As if that wasnt enough, the dective assigned to the case happens to be the boy she said was bad in bed back in high school.

If you've read this series you know that the Broslin PD is at the backdrop of all the books. This time its Detective Chase Merritt who is the hero. Luckily for Luanne he isnt holding a grudge against her for all the ribbing he went through over their disaterous one time hook up as teenagers. He doesnt want to believe that Luanne is a murder but all the evidence is pointing in that direction. He struggles between wanting to prove Leanne didnt do it and wanting to prove to her that he
has gotten much better in the kissing and sex department since high school.

This was an entertaining little mystery with two people reconnecting and falling in love along with having 2 cute kids and some other great secondary characters. Captian Bing of course has a presense in the book along with the mention of previous characters from the series. If you havent read this series I recommend it as each book is different and very enjoyable.

This is actually the first Broslin Creek story I have read. I found Luanne to be funny if a tiny bit neurotic and quite impulsive. Chase on the other hand appeared to be the stalwart hero that was exactly what Luanne needed. I found the story to be more lighthearted than I expected. I liked that family connections were made, old love rekindled and justice achieved. A story with a HEA is always appreciated. I would have liked it even better if it had been just a bit more serious and suspenseful. I just may have to read the earlier Broslin Creek books to meet more of the town. If you're looking for a quick enjoyable read with just a touch of suspense then you should get this story. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

The Broslin Bride by Dana Marton ( Broslin series # 5) is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This addition to the series has lighter tone that previous novels in the series. Luanne Mayfair has had a few hard knocks in life but things are about to really get sticky. With her mother's death Luanne became responsible for her four year old twin siblings which meant dropping out of school and working two jobs to make ends meet. One of those jobs is as a maid cleaning motel rooms and working for the sleazy manager, Earl. When Earl is killed in a hit and run all the evidence points to Luanne.

Chase Merritt is the detective working the case and he and Luanne share a past. It's embarrassing to both of them and Chase could harbor a grudge but he can't seem to stay mad at Luanne. He just can't imagine Luanne running someone down in cold blood, so he is determined to find out what happened to Earl and frankly there is no shortage of suspects.

I really enjoyed this installment in the Broslin series. Luanne has a wonderful outlook no matter how bad things get. She seldom dwells on the negative and is always thinking of others despite her dire circumstances. Although, being a murder suspect is the about the worst thing imaginable, this situation brings Luanne and Chase back together and also introduces Luanne and her siblings to family she never really knew. Chase is a really good guy and I liked that he didn't let the past get in the way of the future. He is really good at this job, and heaven knows we could use more guys like Chase in real life so the real bad guys are caught and innocent people aren't sent to prison.

This Broslin Creek Novella is as good as all the other books in the series. Luanne Mayfair works at the Mushroom Mile Motel in housekeeping to support herself and her twin 4 year old sisters. Luanne does not like the manager, Earl, and has even fantasized about running him into a ditch with her car. She is not alone; her co-workers do not like him any more than she does. When Earl is murdered, however, all the evidence points to Luanne. Chase Merritt, with whom she went to school and now a detective for the Broslin Police Department believes in her innocence. A very good murder mystery, with the right amount or romance, and the touch of small town support make this a great story.

I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Luanne Mayfair is struggling along, working as a maid in the local motel and trying to raise her young twin sisters after their mother died. Barely able to stay afloat and pay the bills, she has little time and no money for fun. When a man she met online three months ago asks to meet for a face-to-face drink, she jumps at the chance. But the guy never shows and when another guy asks to buy her a drink, she accepts. She remembers nothing after that. She awakes the next morning to the news that her boss at the motel has been killed in a hit and run and the damage to the front of her car indicates she is most likely the one who killed him.

Chase Merritt is the detective investigating the crime. He is also her "first" from back in high school. Young and inexperienced, she had no idea what to expect and told her friend it wasn't any good. Her friend spread it around that Chase was lousy in bed and an embarrassed Luanne spent the next ten years avoiding him. Until now. Was the attraction still there between them? How can Chase effectively investigate this incident when he can't stop thinking about Luanne? And how can Luanne confess to something she doesn't remember? She will do anything to keep from going to prison and allow some stranger to raise her sisters.

I read the first two Broslin books, Deathwatch and Deathscape, and liked each of them a lot. I have yet to read Deathtrap and Deathblow and look forward to reading them both. Broslin Bride is Book 5 in this series and I was excited to get an advance copy. For me, it fell a little short of the two I already read. While I actually liked both Chase and Luanne a lot, I found it hard to feel the attraction between them.
