Just Wonderful!, December 21, 2008

Two nights ago I went to a Clayton Brothers Concert where the songs from the "Brother to Brother" CD were featured. The artists are truly gifted and the music is amazing. I had no choice but to get the CD.
As usual the brothers, John and Jeffery, display mastery on their respective instruments, bass and saxophone. Terrell Stafford's trumpeting was second to none. But the bonus is Gerald Clayton, son of John, who at 24 years of age plays the piano with the soul and skill of one having played over several life times.
The New York Times says, "... pianist Gerald performs with an "Oscar Peterson like style, highly controlled touch and dynamics and rhapsodic, episodic soloing".
