Just the fax, man...,
By
This review is from: Brother IntelliFax 1270e Fax Machine (Office Product)
If you're looking for a fax for your home office and don't want to spend a fortune, this is the fax for you. It is simple to set up, uses plain copy paper and takes up little space. The only down side is, it wasn't compatible with our voicemail system and we can't use the auto answer mode. Since we mostly use this for outgoing faxes, we're fine. We just have to manually switch it over to fax mode to receive. If you need the auto answer, check the specs carefully before you buy this one.

This replaces an older Brother sheet roll fax, this is easy to set up right out of the box, you will be sending and receiving faxes in 5 minutes. The cartridgesare easy to replace as well. Brother makes some good products.

paper jams,
By Jan Woods (New Jersey) - See all my reviews

I had a earlier model so I thought when it was time to get a new one I would purchase another Brother. I bought this one for our home office because it said it had 10 page faxing ability. The print quality is the same as the previous model, which is low, but standard for fax machines. The trouble is, if you want to fax multiple pages, the machine jams. You need to stand there, when it is faxing, to make sure the paper is feeding straight. I have found it impossible to fax more than 3 pages at one time and even with this the paper jams.

Another fax with sending problems,
This review is from: Brother IntelliFax 1270e Fax Machine (Office Product)
I have only used this fax for about 2 months and it does a terrible job sending. I don't fax a lot, maybe 2-10 pages per day. It always jams and has trouble feeding my faxes through, irritating!!

ruin the reputation of "made in japan" label,
This review is from: Brother IntelliFax 1270e Fax Machine (Office Product)
Mine was working fine until I had to replace the carbon film the first time. Then the 1-year old unit simply quitted working. Normally I am quite good at figuring out mechanical problems by myself. Not this one.
Then I found out there are unlimited supply of Remanufactured Brother 1270E fax machines. How could so many units need to be repaired? I am a non-Japanese Asian who likes Japanese quality stuff. This model ruins my confidence in Japanese product.

DO NOT BUY,

We have this machine in a public library where we send faxes for both patrons and ourselves. This machine has been trouble since Day One. I have called Brother's customer service, and they were no help. The machine jams constantly. To send ANY fax, we have to stand over the machine and babysit it to make sure the paper feeds correctly. It just will not consistently feed straight. Every once in a while it works beautifully, but most of the time my staff is really frustrated when they "get" to send a fax for someone. Stay away from this machine. The price may be right, but you will pay out the wazoo with frustration.

Frustrating paper jammer,
By
This review is from: Brother IntelliFax 1270e Fax Machine (Office Product)
Never been more disappointed in a fax before...and never had the problems this one has given with other machines. Most faxes sent are only 1 page but it is almost guaranteed that it will take several attempts, lots of luck, and several minutes on average to get a fax through without it being jammed, turned sideways, or just plain not going through. If a negative 5 star rating were available, that's where this one would belong...bummer.

It's worked ok,
By
This review is from: Brother IntelliFax 1270e Fax Machine (Office Product)
We at the office just had our first problem with it after over a year, while trying to send a fax it got stuck on receive mode, we called Brother and after 5 mins on hold we were helped, apparently we just needed to lift the paper to be faxed from the machine to release the receive mode it was on.
Everything else works out well, hope this is helpful, cheers.

Decent Machine - Used in Restaurant...,
By
This review is from: Brother IntelliFax 1270e Fax Machine (Office Product)
I have used a 1270e in one of my restaurants for 2 1/2 years now, and it continues to chug through. We do not fax a lot, but we send copies of the menu to folks, and we receive faxed in orders, so they both need to be readable.
Yes, I dislike the old ribbon roll that it uses for ink, but they can be found cheaply enough, plus we usually flip the cardboard rolls around, cut the notches in the end so they will fit backwards (instead of trying to re-roll them), and reuse them, thus saving money. This thing is in a greasy environment that puts it to a test (it sits by our chip fryer - we are a southwestern/mex grill) and gets totally covered in grease, but keeps right on printing. Phone on it works ok for those times when we have to talk to someone that is dialing the fax by mistake. Has a few memory dial numbers in it which is nice.

Great Budget Fax,
This review is from: Brother IntelliFax 1270e Fax Machine (Office Product)
After going through numerous faxes that have had jamming, feeding, or double-feeding issues I came across this one on the recommendation of an attorney who has had one in service for years and sends/receives multiple faxes daily (no idea why he doesn't use a higher end model).
At the time I bought this I was faxing 10+ page documents several times per week and this chugged through like a machine. Since that point my needs are simplified, I fax or receive faxes at most once or twice a month and I'd rather have a machine on hand. It integrates perfectly with my separate phone system/answering machine (consumer multi wireless handsets with base). This is the first fax I have ever owned that I can absolutely depend on. If someone is going to fax me something, it is there on hand and I know it will go through perfectly. If I'm sending a 12 page document, I can walk away and I know it will feed and print me my confirm (still can't make myself walk away after going through many previous fax hells but it has never failed me in over 3 years of use). And I am writing this because I just faxed a 12 pager with 3 different paper types some of which were thicker/thinner and a subset had moderately different margins and it handled them without hesitation or error. Bottom line, if you need or would like a fax for home or small office and don't want to spend much but expect the thing to work, after going through 3 different models this is the only one I can recommend. |
