4.0 out of 5 stars MFC 620CN Fix
The Amzon description is wrong, the high yeld does not fit the 620CN model. However, if you snap off the extra tabs with a pair of pliers, it fits right in, and seems to be printing happily. Just compare it to the old cartidge, and remove the tabs that don't match, really easy.

It's pretty obvious that Brother purposely "crippled" the high yield ink so that anyone using the less expensive models (620CN) would have to buy the more expensive ink.

So get out your pliers and beat the system.........

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not support MFC210C!!!, June 16, 2005
This review is from: Brother LC41HYBK High-Yield Black Ink Cartridge (Office Product)
Be careful people! It doesn't support MFC210C although the product description at Amazon says so. Actually the box for the toner doesn't list MFC210C. So this is a mistake at Amazon website. I have to return it and buy model LC41BK.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work with MFC-640CW, June 26, 2006

As the other comments here state, this cartridge also doesn't work with the MFC-640CW. If you break the offset black plastic tab off with a set of plyers/cutters, it can be made to work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works with my 640CW. This installation tip might help!, April 17, 2007
This review is from: Brother LC41HYBK High-Yield Black Ink Cartridge (Office Product)
I bought my 640CW last fall because of its wireless capabilities. I'm an advanced graduate student, and I take class notes on a laptop. This printer makes it possible for me to print from my laptop, rather than having to transfer a file to a flashdrive and then to my desktop, just to print. I've gone through perhaps 10-12 cartridges to date and counting (I do a ton of printing) and been able to use every cartridge I've ever bought.

That said, I should clarify that I have had occasional problems with a cartridge INITIALLY: Occasionally after installing, I get a message indicating there is no cartridge installed. I tried removing and reinstalling a few times, without the message disappearing. It seems like once the printer starts to give that message (that there is no cartridge), it gets stuck in that message loop. The way I've worked around it is literally to unplug the printer, keep it off a minute or so, then plug it back in and turn it on. Then it works fine, recognizing the cartridge and functioning properly.

So, try that, and see if it helps. It's an occasional pain, but it does work for me, if I do this. It's because of this occasional glitch that I'm giving this a 4-star score. However, in fairness, I should point out that I don't truly know if it's an issue with the cartridge or with the printer design.

4.0 out of 5 stars High Yield ink cartridge, June 4, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Brother LC41HYBK High-Yield Black Ink Cartridge (Office Product)
This is my second Brother High Yield black cartridge for my MFC 5440. I have not done a detailed analysis of the yield from this cartridge, but it seems to give me about twice as many pages as the standard cartridge with only about a 50% increase in cost. Since black is the cartridge used most on my MFC this also means the black is used up about the same time as the color cartridges.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work with MFC-420CN, January 8, 2006

While I can't promise that this cartridge won't work with any MFC-420CN (one of the previous reviewers claims it will), I can say that this cartridge did not work on my MFC-420CN. As soon as I swapped it out for a LC41BK, it worked fine. Since the LC41HYBK packing does NOT mention the MFC-420CN, I would avoid this ink if that's the printer you have.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with MFC-420CN . . ., June 6, 2009

although I did as one reviewer suggested and clipped the tab and it works now. The color is brilliant. No problems at all.

The reason I bought this is because I did once buy high yield black ink for my MFC-420CN, so I think the manufacturer did at one time allow this cartridge to work with the MFC-420CN. Maybe that's the reason some reviewers say it works and some don't.

If you bought this by mistake, do as the previous reviewer recommended and clip the tab. I may buy another one of these just to save some money.

No problems with the LC41HYBK in the MFC 420CN, even though MFC420CN is not listed on the packaging of the LC41HYBK.

April 6, 2006: Apologies to J. Miller regarding LC41HYBK compatability with MFC 420CN. However, I have double checked the markings on the current black cartridge in my MFC 420CN printer , it is a LC41HYBK , and it is working fine. Obviously all MFC 420CN's are not the same.
