With the Brother Startcard and its 11 straightforward steps, we had the Brother MFC-4350 up and running in about 15 minutes. We connected the accessory parts, attached the cable to our PC, and put the paper in the paper tray. Installing the drum unit/starter toner cartridge required no special preparation; we just removed the vacuum-sealed foil cover from the cartridge, opened the MFC-4350 cover, and placed the cartridge in the obvious slot. Windows '98 recognized the printer at startup (Windows 2000 recognized it the moment we connected the cable), and from there we followed the new hardware wizard to install the printer driver software.
In our tests, we used the MFC-4350 for a variety of printing, copying, and faxing tasks. For standard black-and-white printing, with great output, you can't beat a 600 dpi laser printer like the MFC-4350. However, like most multifunction units, the MFC-4350 does not produce great quality copies. Normal copy/fax mode provided slightly faded text and lines compared to our original. Fine copy/fax mode provided clearer text and sharper lines in graphics. Superfine copy/fax mode provided the best print quality, which was good but not excellent. Photo copy/fax mode provided good grayscale contrast, but text was quite faded. The MFC-4350 is rated at 6 ppm. In our tests, 6 copies in Superfine mode took 1 minute and 13 seconds.

Don't buy this printer !,

This review is from: Brother MFC-4350 3-in-1 Laser Multifunction Center (Electronics)
I bought the MFC-4350 at $399.0 in Office Depot one year ago. i am annoyed by it now, because: 1) its toner catridge is very expensive ($169.0), a toner cost $39.0. 2) "600*600dpi" print quality is not good, looks like 300*600. 3) its catridage life has only ~1000 pages, not the company said 2000~3000 pages! 4) the copy quality is not good, less than 300*300dpi I am thinking of how to get ride of it now!

Excellent Machine!,

I've been using this machine for several months now and have been very happy with the performance. The laser printer is fast with good quality output. Cost per copy is much lower than the ink-jet machine I used to own. The fax machine has memory and laser output. I priced regular laser fax machines with similar features before buying this machine and found that they were more expensive, even without the printing features.

Hands on review,

I use the 4350 as a stand alone fax copier so can't comment on print quality. Copy quality is fast and extremely good for text. Set-up is fast and simple. Instructions are above average with a good index. Everything I've tried to do is simple and controls are logical. Faxing works very easily. I'm still waiting for results of sending a 8x11 color print but copy quality of color photos is reasonably good. RECOMMENDED
