5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Machine!
I've been using this machine for several months now and have been very happy with the performance. The laser printer is fast with good quality output. Cost per copy is much lower than the ink-jet machine I used to own. The fax machine has memory and laser output. I priced regular laser fax machines with similar features before buying this machine and found that they...

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this printer !
I bought the MFC-4350 at $399.0 in Office Depot one year ago. i am annoyed by it now, because: 1) its toner catridge is very expensive ($169.0), a toner cost $39.0. 2) "600*600dpi" print quality is not good, looks like 300*600. 3) its catridage life has only ~1000 pages, not the company said 2000~3000 pages! 4) the copy quality is not good, less than...

4.0 out of 5 stars Hands on review, December 13, 1999

This review is from: Brother MFC-4350 3-in-1 Laser Multifunction Center (Electronics)
I use the 4350 as a stand alone fax copier so can't comment on print quality. Copy quality is fast and extremely good for text. Set-up is fast and simple. Instructions are above average with a good index. Everything I've tried to do is simple and controls are logical. Faxing works very easily. I'm still waiting for results of sending a 8x11 color print but copy quality of color photos is reasonably good. RECOMMENDED

1.0 out of 5 stars It 's a piece of crap, October 11, 1999
This review is from: Brother MFC-4350 3-in-1 Laser Multifunction Center (Electronics)
I just got it last week and already it is crewing up in Windows 95. The driver is terrible. The print quality sucks (600 dpi my ass), the copy qulaity is useless. Absolutely no support at Brother. Save your money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great all around machine., January 10, 2000

Great all around machine. Heavy usage, multiple users. I just ordered our third one for the office. Easy setup, fast operation, reasonable supply cost. Hopefully will prove to be more reliable than the old Brother 2500ml machines that these have replaced.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacks Windows NT Driver, February 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Brother MFC-4350 3-in-1 Laser Multifunction Center (Electronics)
The specifications for this printer suggest that you can use it with Windows NT, but according to Brother, the driver is not available and never will be. You will have to use a PCL 4 driver which is very slow or resort to the driver that ships with the unit, which, in many cases simply doesn't ever produce a printout on complex pages.

Furthremore, I have been unable to find a way to reset the print queue in the middle of a print job. Pulling the power cord seems to be an effective solution, however, you will need to reset the spooler service on your NT Server as well.

If you intend to share a single phone line for inbound fax and data, the distinctive ring feature on this unit is its only redemption.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine for home office!, January 22, 2011
This review is from: Brother MFC-4350 3-in-1 Laser Multifunction Center (Electronics)
Wonderful little machine -- have had ours for almost 10 years now with no problems whatsoever. It faxes, copies, and prints -- and costs much less than an inkjet printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this if you can - A Really Great Workhorse of a MFC, February 24, 2008
This review is from: Brother MFC-4350 3-in-1 Laser Multifunction Center (Electronics)
I bought mine in 9-1998, today is 2-24-08 and it is still functionally perfectly.

So if you are thinking of buying a used one, DO IT!

I did carefully set mine to use as little toner as possible. I use it for accounting and printing that the print quality is fine for my purposes on a much lower setting. I am a professional bookkeeper working out of my home. This machine has really worked hard. The general reputation among dealers who recondition these machines agrees with me. They are workhorses.

I have never had to have it repaired. The drum lasted almost 7 years. It cost about $165 and simple to install. The toner cartridges are a steal today compared to getting a newer machine. This is the biggest reason why I have not yet gotten a newer one. I can not see paying those high prices for toner. I pay just over $30 for toner to last 3-6 months now.

The one problem with the machine is that the two front paper trays break easily so you want to position the machine so that you will not bump into them. When you look at them you will see what I mean. Replacements are $15.17 each from Brother.

I have not used the Scanner feature. I just tried again and they still want $99 for the software for Win98. So in that sense, Brother sold me something that I never got. I also did not have a need - but would have liked that I got what I thought I was paying for. Another thought is try to keep a drawer close to the printer since it does not hold much paper. I use it now to print shipping labels for online sales. I just love my MFC.

As a Laser printer and Fax this machine is outstanding and a great addition for any office.
