4.0 out of 5 stars Great For an All-In-One Machine
Have used my 7150c for about 9 months and am very pleased overall, but I did have to get a replacement machine sent to me by Brother because the numerical keypad was inoperative (could not send faxes or place calls on the machine). Tech support was great, and they sent me the replacement by FedEx. Print and copy quality are very good (at least as good as comparable...

This review is from: Brother MFC 7150C - Printer - color - ink-jet - Legal - 1440 dpi x 720 dpi - up to 6 ppm (mono) / up to 4 ppm (color) - capacity: 200 sheets - Parallel - AC 120 V (Electronics)
Mine broke and there's nobody nearby who can fix it. It worked great for a while -- especially the color reproduction. I was amazed at the good color copying quality.

Then after eight months the printing started to get really blurry, and despite following the instructions, I was unable to get it to stop being blurry.

Finally, the gripper mechanism that feeds the faxes stopped working, meaning that my five page fax would all go through at once unless I tried to feed it through sheet by sheet.

I think the technology in this product is good but the manufacturing techniques and design are cheap and inferior. I wouldn't recommend this if you are going to use it a lot or for your business.

3.0 out of 5 stars MFC 7150, December 14, 1999

This review is from: Brother MFC 7150C - Printer - color - ink-jet - Legal - 1440 dpi x 720 dpi - up to 6 ppm (mono) / up to 4 ppm (color) - capacity: 200 sheets - Parallel - AC 120 V (Electronics)
I very pleased with my Brother 7150, except one issue: In 6 months of using this machine, I have already spent more on ink than I have in 6 yrs of using my little powerhorse laser printer (an old HP 4L).

Print and copy quality are very good (at least as good as comparable machines from HP and Canon), and the print and copy speed are MUCH FASTER than other manufacturers.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPER GREAT MULTI UNIT, July 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Brother MFC 7150C - Printer - color - ink-jet - Legal - 1440 dpi x 720 dpi - up to 6 ppm (mono) / up to 4 ppm (color) - capacity: 200 sheets - Parallel - AC 120 V (Electronics)
THE BROTHER 7150C TURNED OUT TO BE FIRST CLASS FOR ME. I PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR AND I'VE FOUND IT TO BE THE BEST. WAS PURCHASED FOR MY BUSINESS, SO I HAD TO BE VERY DISCERNING. IN SPITE OF OTHER COMPETING SOLID TYPES, THIS TURNED OUT TO BE A REAL WINNER! I'M ALSO A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER AND WHEN I STARTED USING THE KODAK CD'S WHEN THE KODAK LAB PROCESSED, IT WAS NOTHING LESS THAN STARTLING. THEY NOT ONLY BURN IN YOUR PHOTOS BUT ALSO INBED SOME ADOBE SOFTWARE ON EACH DISC. IT'S BEAUTIFUL TO BE ABLE TO CROP TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT, CHANGE CONTRAST AND LIGHTEN/BRIGHTEN BUT ALSO TAKE OUT THE RED EYE IF NEEDED. THERE'S MUCH MORE. THE NEXT BEST WAS TO SEE THE RESULTS WHEN I USED KODAK INK JET PAPER. JUST THINK, I JUST ABOUT DID AWAY WITH MY DARKROOM. THE QUALITY FROM 7150C ALLOWED MATTING AND FRAMING RIGHT FROM THE BROTHER UNIT. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A FIRST RATE UNIT. ADDITIONALLY, THE SOFTWARE WITH THE UNIT CAN SAVE YOU MANY, MANY OTHER BUCK-A-ROOS. P.S. I HAPPEN TO BE A DEDICATED CANNON USER FOR CAMERA EQUIPMENT AND KNOW JUST HOW VERY GOOD CANNON TECHNOLOGY IS. BUT WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT COLOR CARTRIDGES BEING SO LOW COST IN THE 7150C IN ADDITION TO EVERYTHING ELSE, IT'S HANDS DOWN.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good quality, July 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Brother MFC 7150C - Printer - color - ink-jet - Legal - 1440 dpi x 720 dpi - up to 6 ppm (mono) / up to 4 ppm (color) - capacity: 200 sheets - Parallel - AC 120 V (Electronics)
Over all I've been happy with this machine but I do have one beef. When I was setting up the printer and trying to run the test page I had the devil of a time getting it to start. And when it did start to print I did not get any color. Calling Brother customer service I spent 1 hour determining that the color ink cartridges where empty. They then told me to go to the vendor to get relief. I did and I am happy to say that they handled the matter with great speed and dispatch. In the mean time while waiting for the ink cartridges to arrive I have gone out and purchased additional cartridges and the printer works fine now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Print head gone after 16 months, April 1, 2000
This review is from: Brother MFC 7150C - Printer - color - ink-jet - Legal - 1440 dpi x 720 dpi - up to 6 ppm (mono) / up to 4 ppm (color) - capacity: 200 sheets - Parallel - AC 120 V (Electronics)
My mfc printer was not working ok since about a couple of months. Today when I call up Brother help line they say that the print head is gone and may have to replace it ($150) value! . I have not taken more than 300 prints in these 16 months . Not worth buying this machine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice muti-function unit and its works with Windows NT!, July 15, 1999
I use this 6-n-1 with Windows NT and have been happy overall with the results. Two items that I am not happy with are that the print driver when activly printing causes the mouse to work erratically and the result of frame grabbing from a video source is dark and lacks sharpness. Stand-alone fax and copy is excelent, I often use the copy mode with glossy paper to enlarge snapshots.

Though is seems other have had mixed results with this unit, mine have been nothing but trouble. I have never had a piece of equipment give me so much trouble. Very spotty.

I don't recomend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS MACHINE, September 24, 2001

I inititally liked the performance and flexibility of this machine, but like many others I found that the print head needed replacement after only about 18 months of very light use. At $149.99 for a replacement head from Brother, this is way too much. I'll be junking mine and buying from a competitor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Printer!!, July 25, 2001
By A Customer

I bought this printer in March 2000, that is, 16 months ago. About a month ago, after replacing the ink cartridges, I noticed that the black ink was streaking badly - so badly, that I can't use it to write cover letters or send out my resume. I followed instructions to clean the print head, with no improvement. On calling Brother, I was told the print head needs to be replaced. It turns out the print head costs $135 to $150, and nearly everyone with this printer has had the same problem! I can't believe it; to have to pay this much money just 16 months after buying the printer is outrageous.

Don't buy this piece of junk.
