Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The MFC-970Mc is a six-in-one machine that serves as a scanner, fax machine, PC fax, copier, printer, and phone and fax message center. The scanner includes Visioneer PaperPort software, is TWAIN compliant, and has a maximum resolution of 400 x 400 dpi interpolated. The 512 KB memory on the fax machine is capable of storing up to 48 numbers for auto dial and up to 20 pages for broadcasting, out-of-paper reception, and more. With the PC fax, you can send and receive faxes from your computer, so you can look at faxes before you print them and eliminate unnecessary paper use. The copy machine allows up to 99 copies that you can reduce or enlarge from 50 to 150 percent. The printer is capable of 2 ppm and has a maximum resolution of 200 x 400 dpi. The MFC-970Mc also acts as a message center with five personal mailboxes (five minutes of message time each), remote fax retrieval and fax forwarding capability, and a full duplex speakerphone in addition to the handheld receiver. The MFC-970Mc is backed with a one-year parts and labor warranty.

This review is from: MFC-970MC All-In-One Printer (Office Product)
I'm pretty technologically savvy, but this machine has been nothing but a pain since Day One. It has a lot of snazzy features, all of which are extremely difficult to use. You have to go through a dozen steps to pull off one function. And when you lose power in that next storm... guess what!... you get to go through all those steps to set up everything again.

Even simple functions like copying and faxing take forever because you get paper jams left and right. Also, the memory fills up quickly (one fax of a couple pages can fill it up) and then it refuses to print any future faxes until the memory is cleared out. In the business world, missed faxes mean lost money.

Technically, our MFC-970MC is in great shape, but I'm looking to fork out another couple hundred dollars for something different because it has been such a time drain and irritation.
