Good multi-use labeller,

This is one of the best P-touch labellers I've used. The (pseudo) QUERTY keyboard makes it wasy to input text. Functions are clearly labelled and easy to reference without a manual. Five size and multi-line text and 9 memory locations to save frequent printed labels. Also quick access to change tapes on the top.The Amazon price is great as well. You won't be disappointed!

Good capability, fair price,

I was looking for an inexpensive, yet high quality, long lasting, and durable way to identify dozens upon dozens of electrical wires behind the instrument panel of my airplane. A fellow pilot made me aware of the family of small electronic labelers available in the marketplace. The Brother 1750 fits my needs perfectly. Offering two lines of crisp, highly readable print gives a professional appearance to all labeling needs. My experience is quite different than some reviewers who have complained about wasted tape. In fact, I found that little wasted tape is generated if you simply adjust the margins to a particular task and this option is clearly spelled out in the instruction booklet. Since I purchased the 1750, I have found many uses for it around the home office and I wonder how I got by without one in the past! My only complaint about the keyboard is that among the characters, it does not offer a dash or hyphen, so when one is required, I find myself using a star instead. That is a minor complaint though. The Brother 1750 gets considerable mileage on AA battery power alone, so I have not felt the need to purchase the adapter.

Nice, but...,

I really like everything about it, except one big thing. It wastes a lot of blank label with each print. The replacement labels are costly and it leaves me wondering if Brother designed it that way to boost sales of replacement label cartridges. I am always cutting off the excess and wondering how much money is going down the drain each time.

Wasted tape is a big problem,

It is obvious that Brother designed this labeler to waste tape. I bought the labeler because I wanted to implement the Getting Things Done System. I find the labeler useful but I am very annoyed that Brother made the labeler is such a way as to force people to buy as much of their tape as possible. The reviewer Rick Galati is completely wrong. There is always wasted tape no matter what adjustment you make and the wasted tape is usually substantial. There is absolutely no way to prevent the labeller from wasting tape. No matter what setting of the margins you use the labeler will always print out an margin on the left side. There is a margin setting called "NONE" but even this prints out a sizable margin on the left side. The worst thing though is that if you use the settings which reduce margins than you no longer have the text centered in the label. Instead there will be a margin on the left side but no margin on the right side. Thus you have to cut the tape in order to center the text which is a big hassle. In fact I just use the labeler with the margin settings set to "FULL" because I don't want to bother having to cut the tape myself. Brother could easily of made the labeller in such a way as to reduce the margins but they didn't. I can only include that they did this on purpose to get people to buy more tape. The tapes themselves are about 20 dollars.

Excellent Label Maker,

Having purchased a Casio two years ago and being extremely disappointed, I carefully researched label makers. I purchased the Brother 1750 and it did not disappoint. Large LCD screen, extremely easy to use, little doohickey helps separate the backing from the tape (it uses several different colors and sizes of laminated tape). Although I did not purchase the optional AC adapter, it's nice to know I can if the batteries wear out too quickly. This is an excellent product for home and office use and I highly recommend it.

PT-1750 Brother labeling machine,
By Philip Beachy (Walnut Creek, Ohio) - See all my reviews

This is one versatile little machine. The results are impressive and the ease of use is a beaut ! Altho it did take some time to fully understand how all the function keys work. With 4 different widths, 6 type sizes, 9 type styles, 58 symbols, plus vertical AND horizontal printing , it does everything that I want it to. It is well worth the money and I would highly recommend it for the casual user. After 6 months of use, the original batteries are still going strong !! Great Product.

Fine except that you have to trim your own lablels,
By A Customer
This review is from: Brother PT-1750 Electronic Labeling System (Office Product)
I like everything about this product except for one thing: unless you're happy with a margin of about two inches on each side of the text, you have to cut each label by hand. It does offer narrow margin options, but when you use this option, you just get a dotted line on one side that you have trim along. What a pain!

Poor quality control,
This review is from: Brother PT-1750 Electronic Labeling System (Office Product)
The machine works great when it works. Unfortunately, I have had two models that needed repair - sigh. The first time the print head died. The second time the cutter was defective. Brother needs to a better job on their quality control. Also, I agree with others about too much wasted tape - a real scam since you need their expensive tapes.

The tape cassette gets messed up and can't be fixed.,
By Martin Luther "Love to Cook" (Iowa USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brother PT-1750 Electronic Labeling System (Office Product)
I really loved this machine as stated in some other reviews. It was so great for so many labeling uses. However, at some point it started to eat the tape coming out of the cassette. Once it starts to do that to a cassette, there is no repair to it; the cassette is completely unusable. I have tried everything I can think of to fix cassettes that have started to do this. As so many have stated, the tape cassettes are really expensive. I have had this machine eat really new cassettes that I have just started to use, and at more than $20 per casette, that is way unacceptable. This is actually the SECOND machine of these that I have bought that has done this. I am going to ditch both of them and look for one by another maker.

Wasted Tape,
This review is from: Brother PT-1750 Electronic Labeling System (Office Product)
The P-touch is capable of making labels, however, it's extremely frustrating to continue buying expensive tape for this label-maker, only to have to cut an inch of tape each time I print a label. I called the manufacturer in the hopes that I didn't set the machine properly but had an extremely frustrating conversation with their "customer service" representative who explained (not so patiently) that it is not a design flaw. The manufacturer intended for the machine to create an inch of lead in tape each time you print out a label. She acknowledged that they log calls EVERY day complaining about the wasted tape but insists they cannot do anything about it. Given the low cost of the machine, the real money-maker is in the cost of the tape itself so cutting off an inch of tape each time you use the machine tends to add up in wasted money. If I had known about this problem earlier, I would not have bought this machine.
