True label aficionados will appreciate the typewriter style of the PT-1800's QWERTY keyboard, seven type sizes, and eight type styles, including bold, shadow, outline, italic, and vertical. It also has the ability to print either vertically or horizontally and supports text underlining and framing.
Operating the labeler is completely intuitive. Featuring auto numbering and repeat, multiline printing, and mirror printing, the options for text presentation seem limitless but are still very easy to use. The large pink code button accesses most of the formatting options, memory functions, accents, and symbols (which include international symbols as well as fun signs like hearts, stars, and music notes). We were able to use the advanced functions without ever reading the ample instruction manual.
The PT-1800 comes with a roll of black-print-on-clear adhesive label tape, but you can also accessorize with other ink colors and sizes, since the machine can accommodate four tape sizes ranging from 0.25 to 0.75 inches. The labels will hold up under both hot and cold temperatures (microwave or freezer). and they're also water resistant. Label printing is exceptionally fast. It took only 10 seconds to print and cut a label reading "Brother PT-1800," making this labeler ideal for office managers, teachers, industrial workers, and the compulsive organizer in all of us. It even comes with six AAA batteries. --Ariel Meadow Stallings

The labeler was old discontinued stock. It was in the box, but so old the batteries were leaking and covered in a white coating...some were dead. It operates OK when I put new batteries in. The seller, MAXXDEALS, was notified and I suggested they provide new batteries to replace the bad...a cheap fix to satisfy a customer and receive a better review/rating on amazon.
They said batteries are "peripherals", so they did nothing! That was just a waste of time.

This is really a terrific device. It is easy to use and prints beautiful labels. I especially appreciate how easy it is to swap out cartridges, whether it's empty or you just want to change colors. I also like how you can print 2 or 3 lines on the tape, and how it centers the text automatically. There's a huge variety of tapes available with different font colors and tape colors and tape widths and even stronger adhesives. I use this to label the myriad AC adapters under my desk, my kids' school supplies and all kinds of things. I bought the fancy gold-on-black to label trophies for a neighborhood dog show. I don't have the AC adapter but the 6 AA batteries seem to be lasting quite a long time. (Yeah, 6 batteries is a lot, but they're the original ones I installed years ago.)
