It worked like I expected - take out the old, put in the new, and it works - no problems. The only disappointment is that the printer comes with a nearly empty cartridge, which starts sending out "Low Toner" alarms to the network the printer is on like a week after you buy the printer. Whaaat is the DEAL, Brother? Pick one:
- PUT A FULL CARTRIDGE IN THE PRINTER and CHARGE FOR IT. But...nooOOOOooo...you want to play the shelf-price game.
- Leave it out entirely if you want to be more falsely price competitive - we get it - but TELL THE BUYER IT NEEDS A CARTRIDGE
- OR explain on the front of the box - and on the printer's page on Amazon (which is where I bought the printer, too) - that the included cartridge is lame and will run out quickly, that a replacement cartridge is going to be required REALLY soon and recommend buying the replacement along with the printer.
The replacement worked just fine, no problems, and as a stand alone item gets a perfect rating - performs as expected.

I was surprised at how long the toner lasted considering I print full legal page documents at at least 2000 pages a week. It lasted more than a month.

Love Brother laser printers
They just seem to work and work and work. I drive them until the drum needs replacing, then I recycle them for a newer model
