This sewing machine is awesome. My wife has never really done much sewing but found this to be a sewing machine that is extremely easy to use with more capability than she'll probably ever use. It's also very light weight in comparison to her previous models, making it easier to transport. The large table attachment is easily attached and removed and increases your working surface area making it much easier to deal with larger amounts of material.

I am brand new to sewing and this is my very first machine. I found this machine to be very easy to use (even for someone who didnt know what a bobbin was before getting the machine).

I can't say whether it's a great machine for the more advanced or not since I am nowhere near that category, but I know it has been great for me as a beginner.

I only wish it came with a better manual. I did not receieve any manual other than a few pages of basic instructions that came with the machine and told me how to set it up.

Most of the reviews I've read are from people who don't do a lot of sewing or are just getting back into it. Well I sew all the time and have for the past fifty years. Most of what I do now is quilting and that's the reason I bought this machine. I wanted a light weight sewing machine that I could take traveling. I've been using this machine for the past few days doing some quilting on it and I must say I'm very pleased with it. I think this is a very good purchase price and it's just what I expected from the Brother Co. I have two other very expensive machines and this one does a fantastic job for the money. JK OF ILLINOIS

I love this machine! I am no seamstress, have very little experience with a sewing machine actually...yet I find this machine VERY simple and straightforward to operate. I use it most often for sewing on my scrapbooking pages and all of the designs/stitches work perfectly for that! At this price, I would definitely buy this machine!

After using this product for 4 months, my wife complained that the stiches were losing accuracy, took it into the shop, and it came back worse rather than better. This was only after 4-5 projects. Would not recommend to someone who wants a reliable sewing machine.

This machine has been inconsistent from day 1! I would be sewing along and then something would jam up! I would have to cut all the thread to pull the fabric out. Then, I find out there's a tangled mess underneath the fabric.

We had an older machine and it worked fine for years.

Love this machine. Bought it for quilting and it came with all of the pieces that I need for quilting. Highly recommend it.

I bought the machine for my daughter's 10th birthday gift. She has been hand sewing little felt and fabric items for a while now, and it was time for her to move up to a machine. I have a (very) old Necchi that I inherited from my mother, from the 1950's. The tension is off, and she needed a more modern machine. I started researching and finally decided on this machine. We have had it since May 2009, and we love it. She makes tons of fleece items, including little kitty blankets that she can donate to a local rescue, toys, fleece snuggies, etc. The machine will tell her if she forgets to lower the presser foot or has something done incorrectly. There are 3 short beeps and she knows to check to see what the issue is. Threading is easy, so changing threads and bobbins is not a chore. She can follow the guides on the machine to wind bobbins and thread the machine. She made gift bags, simple dresses, etc. It is so easy for her to see the stitches, make her selections and use this machine. I do suggest that if you buy this machine, order several of the bobbins that go with it so you have them. Brother recommends their own plastic bobbins, and this is what we use, but took us couple days to find them at a local Walmart so she could get started with her sewing projects. I use this machine as well, it is just so much easier and faster. It has been a great machine for her, and for me!

I am enjoying this sewing machine; it was everything I expected - thanks to the many reviews left for it. Thank you all in the sewing community for your help. I am a beginner and found the instructions in the booklet very helpful plus I watched on YouTube how to thread a machine to help me out. I love all the options for stitches and was nervous when the first time I had to change the foot. I almost didn't even try it, but it was easy! No, SUPER easy. This machine makes me want to find more projects just to use it.

I am learning how to sew and this machine is easy to use and will be great for me as I continue to take classes and learn.
