I ordered this machine because the one I had only did forward and reverse and zig-zag and I have had it for 20 years and it still works very well,It to is a Brother. I started doing applique quilting and needed a machine that had more stitches so I ordered this machine. It was everything I had expected and it was a good price at $60.00. I priced a new one and found it was over a hundred dollars. This machine would be perfect even for a beginner. It is easy to use and can handle alot of different materials. I would highly recomend this machine.

This is my 1st sewing machine. I brought it to a sewing class to learn how to sew, and it was one of the easiest and lightest. Compared to the other it's pretty quiet and doesn't "jump" or move while sewing. I bought mine from Wal-Mart and it came with a DVD on how to set up the machine, how to straight stitch, how to zig-zag stitch, sew a button and install a zipper. It's has 14 different stitches so it's not only a great machine to learn on but can be used once you learn how to sew well. I have hemmed jeans with a size 14 needle (what it comes with) with no problem, but bought a size 16 needle to make sure it doesn't brake! I love this machine and recommend it to ANYONE!

I used to sew when I was younger, now the kids are all grown and I have more time for myself.I picked this machine for the price,simplicity, and the Brother name.
So far I am very happy with this little guy. For the price it is well worth it. It took me a few tries before I was able to thread the bobbin and load it. I've gotten better at it. For me, the speed is easy to control, it takes corners really well, and I love the reverse sewing. You don't have to do anything except flip the switch.Having only ever used a straight stitch machine, I love the choice of stitches. The tension is easy to fix (I never had any luck with that before now) I have yet to use the button hole maker,and I have not sewn in a zipper, but in time I'll feel braver! My only complaint is threading the needle, my eyes aren't what they used to be. But the machine came with three needle threaders, and that helps somewhat.
All in all this is a great little machine.I recommend it to any one who is just starting out, or just wants to replace an older machine.

I bought my Brother XL 3125 as my first sewing machine. I chose it because it is a good brand, had a nice number of stitches and was very economically priced.

It has done everything I have asked of it and even more! It is easy to operate and I love learning to sew on it. I think I will be using this machine for years to come!

I am a VERY beginner seamstress and was able to use this machine quite quickly out of the box! Threading it was a snap and it is very quiet. Plus I love the fact that you do not have to use the foot pedal if you don't want to, so it is very portable from place to place around the house. It also came with a lot of accessories. I would totally recommend this machine! Also, the stitch variety is fun and pretty.

I got this machine about 6 months ago on a whim. I sent my sister to Walmart to pick out the cheapest machine. I had never sewn before in my entire 28 years. I LOVE this machine and would recommend it to ANYONE who asked. If it broke I would replace it with the same thing in a heartbeat.

The reason I give it only 4 stars is due to the instruction manual. I had never sewn in my life, and the instructions were kinda vague and incoherant for someone who doesn't know the "language". After I got it, set it up, and then tried to sew on a test fabric, everything got screwed up. I then put it aside (for lack of time with 3 young children) until my husband got home from Iraq about a month later. He showed me how to use it one day when all the boys were napping!

I am now fairly proficient and am sewing cloth diapers (for use with my little ones) and I am testing it out on making my own curtains next month!

I bought this machine nad I really like it. I have sewm many things with it and I really have no problem with it at all. It has been able to do all that I have needed it to do. It really is a nice sewing machine an excellent for beginners as well as experienced sewers who need to do everyday sewing.

I bought this machine because my friend and I assumed it would be the same quality as the Singer machine in the same price range. I got it home and did a few small mends with it. It worked all right. It would act a little irregular with the back stitching, but I thought it just needed to be broken in.

Well, a month went by and now the back stitch doesn't work at all, which doesn't give me much faith in it lasting much longer. The front stitching works fine as long as I just press the pedal softly, but only two stitching patterns work. So, now, I'm saving up for yet another machine, and unfortunately, this machine left me a bit unsure about the quality of Brother machines.

I purchased it refurbished and it has lasted 2 years and is still going. I love the different stitch settings and how light and compacty it is. It serves my needs perfectly.

I brought this brother sewing machine from Walmart. I originally wanted to get the Project Runway Edition (computerized) because it had more programmed stitches that one had I believe 60 this one has 14 programmed stitches however this one was only 74.95 at walmart the other one is 145.95 I still plan on buying that one at a later date VERY SOON but anyway back to the 3125. This machine is AWESOME its lightweight very easy to operate and its sturdy I dont get the feeling that its gonna just fall apart it feels strong and the sewing is very precise. I saw some reviews saying that there are issues with the bobbin and thread getting caught but I have had no problems with the bobbin at all. The DVD that came with this machine is very helpful but even more helpful are the many youtube tutorials on this exact model HUGE HELP...AGAIN I LOVE THIS MACHINE I would recommend this for anyone who wants a good machine for a affordable price !!! BUY IT !!!
