This cartridge will disable your printer once it (the cartridge) tells your printer it's empty. The cartridge has a window that is closed (blocked) by toner. This window runs through the cartridge from one side to the other. When the toner is full, the window is blocked, when the toner is seemingly empty, a laser is able to shine through the cartridge one side to the other thus signaling to the printer to shut down for cartridge replacement. I have found that when you obstruct this window with a simple piece of masking tape, you will have at least 33-50% more toner left. I'll leave any manufacturer motive speculation up to you.

This toner cartridge currently has a yield of $.015 per page The Brother TN580 (7,000 YLD) High Yield Toner Cartridge has a yield of $.01 per page and will last twice as long, saving you on shipping and waste (toner cartridges take up a lot of space in trash dumps). No one should ever consider this cartridge over the high yield version if you want to save money.

This cartridge is what I need to use my printer. There are copies out there but I have not had any luck with them. The price I got at Amazon is about $25 cheaper than if I had bought it at Staples or Office Depot. Thank you Amazon.

Make sure not to purchase a replacement toner cartridge in
anticipation of needing one. I just opened a brand new tn 550
to replace old one, did not work, but since I had purchased it
in September (4 mos ago) I have no recourse.

This seller's price is cheaper than other retailers. However, please do not expect that you receive this item next day or so like Office depot does. I recommend to purchase this as an inventory.

I am a customer who purchase (2) brother printers. One brother MFC model and one HL model. Both printers are great for my business and personal use. I had compared prices to other resaler or office supply store, and honestly amazon is more affordable with the brother name brand toners and drum unit. I will continue to shop with amazon for my toners and drum units.

I've ordered this toner a number of times for my laser printer. It lasts a long time and the print outs look great. I also appreciate that the company sends a return mailing label in the box, so you can mail your old one back to them FREE of charge for recycling.

I looked all around for a new toner cartridge for my Brother laser printer. Amazon had one of the best prices, and the fact that my purchase qualified for free shipping sealed the deal.

This is so not worth the money. I'd been buying Brother toners for my Brother printer for years. Not ONCE got even half of the number of copies out of one drum they advertise. Recently I tried an off-brand drum and was pleasantly surprised. For 1/5 of the cost, I'm getting as many copies as I actually ended up getting with the Brother product.

I purchased a new Brother toner cartridge through Amazon for my Brother HL-5250DN laser printer. It's a no brainer to install and works as advertised. The vendor delivered earlier than promised. Assuming it delivers the 3500 copies over time - and I have no reason to think otherwise, based on past experience with Brother products - what's not to like?
