4.0 out of 5 stars The wellwater is good.
I just gave the AUDIOSLAVE disc another listen and I have to say, I'm still unimpressed and glad I stumbled across this. Being an old school SOUNDGARDEN fan, I felt the talent in that great band would strech far and wide. It is a shame that CHRIS CORNELL's projects have been somewhat less passionate than his work in SG, but It's a pleasure to see MATT CAMERON doing much...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's "Electric".
This album may not sound like what you'd expect a "Monster Magnet-Soundgarden" fusion to sound like (which I have fantasized about), but it's still pretty sweet. It's more a psychedelic garage-rock kind of thing, than the grunge/stoner rock of their former bands. I haven't completely absorbed this album yet, but "Compellor" sounds like the strongest...

I just gave the AUDIOSLAVE disc another listen and I have to say, I'm still unimpressed and glad I stumbled across this. Being an old school SOUNDGARDEN fan, I felt the talent in that great band would strech far and wide. It is a shame that CHRIS CORNELL's projects have been somewhat less passionate than his work in SG, but It's a pleasure to see MATT CAMERON doing much more than playing skins for PEARL JAM. WELLWATER CONSPIRACY is the brainchild (or moonchild) of CAMERON and MONSTER MAGNET guitarist JOHN McBAIN, and they rock. In this, their second release, they meld psychedelic rock with funk and hooky alternative progression to make a solid recording that grows on you after every listen. CAMERON does vocals, and well too. His voice flows nicely with a lazy hamonic hook to the ever-excellent drumming he also provides. McBAIN I wasn't too familiar with prior to this but proves his skill and then some with some great string work. JOSH HOMME, the superhero from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, stops by as well to provide vox on three of the tracks. If you like good alternative rock 'n roll, there is no conspiracy, this is the real deal. I can't wait to explore the other releases by this cool band, after hearing this record- you will too. Good stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than The First!, February 13, 1999
By A Customer

John McBain has created a diverse album of incredible songs that brings garage rock into the next millennium. The range of influences explored here is impressive-- from mid-sixties cellar psych to early-seventies euro prog-- all recreated into a sound that should lead meaningful music into the next century. Intelligent, informed and accomplished work from the reclusive fountainhead of stoner rock. 5+ stars.

unlike a lot of the mimic bands out there today..that pretty much all use the same garage lo fi type influence...the wellwater conspiracy stands alone as an album with decent production values...and tunes that rock rather nicely! way different from anything the members have previously done...its a pleasant suprise to say the least....! :) try and get ur hands on the limited vinyl release....(its how it should be played!)

I bought The Scroll and it's Combinations cd on a whim and fell in love with it after first listen.I got this cd because I liked the scroll cd so much. This cd is as great if not better.I couldnt say which cd was a better cd.They are both some of the best music I have heard in a long time and I hope Matt and john continue to play together and make another cd. The music is hard to explain other then being excellent. It has a 60's psychidelic feel but with much better playing and determination to make excellent music.if you dont have any of wellwater's cd's. Youve missed out on some of the best music being made, period. You wont be disappointed, trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Music, December 16, 2000

Not many people have heard of wellwater but everybody that has loves them which should tell you something. This is great music that no one makes anymore, reminding you of 60's-era psychadelic rock like the beatles and syd barret-pink floyd. Every song on here is brilliant, but you simply can't beat Born With a Tail, Teen Lampchop, B.O.U., and Van Vanishing. The musicianship is awesome too with my favorite drummer of all time matt cameron (soundgarden, pearl jam) pounding away and singing as well. John McBaine does a great job as well and Josh Homme (kyuss, queens of the stone age) stops by to sing and play bass on a couple of songs. Simply put this is a great album with brilliant music that to ignore would be robbing yourself of some of the best music to come out of the dismal late-90's music scene.

I try to stop listening to it thinking "Man, that's what you ALWAYS put on..." But I keep finding myself drawn....almost controlled... putting this CD in the player. It sounds familiar, yet if someone asks me to describe it, all I can say is that "It's a CD that....is too short...(at over 45 minutes!)" It's rock, but there is alot going on that sets it apart from anything else that I've heard in a while. It keeps my ear interested, and just rocks.

This album may not sound like what you'd expect a "Monster Magnet-Soundgarden" fusion to sound like (which I have fantasized about), but it's still pretty sweet. It's more a psychedelic garage-rock kind of thing, than the grunge/stoner rock of their former bands. I haven't completely absorbed this album yet, but "Compellor" sounds like the strongest song, and "Red Light Green Light" and "Good Pushin'" are good too. The guitar work of "John McBain" is decent, and I also like hearing "Matt Cameron" sing as he beats the skins. "Josh Homme" from "QOTSA" also guests on a few tracks. Overall it's pretty good, just "Outshined" by their old bands.

The title says it all. This CD features Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age on some vocals and as guest bass player with the abscence of Ben Sheppard. The nice thing about this CD is it is all in English... Not that the first album bothered me after a few listens, it really bothered me at first. The CD rocks and is trippy as G13... Put on some headphones... It's 4:20... :-) Cheers.
