In August 1969 five session singers were invited to form a new session group. Main singer was Tony Burrows of Ivy League and Flowerpot Men fame. The first success came with the second single United We Stand. This CD collects together the three US hits of the session group plus the only US hit of the group that was the face of the session group in concert during 1971-1973 and that would become the second outfit of the group, the Eurovision winning song Save Your Kisses For Me. The rest of the songs are a mix of songs from this second outfit 1974-1980. This outfit is still on tour at the end of the century

Brotherhood of Man: Golden Classics has a nice assortment of timeless hits by Brotherhood Of Man. They could harmonize like no other group ever could! The sound quality is great; and the artwork is fine, too.

The CD opens with their awesome, "United We Stand." They sing this marvelously with a beautiful chorus in the background; the musical arrangement makes good use of the strings, percussion and drums. "Where Are You Going To My Love" shines like pure gold in their capable hands--great harmonizing again, too! Listen also for "Reach Out Your Hand;" this tune has a pop rock flavor to it and the females on backup enhance the natural beauty of this number. I really like "Reach Out Your Hand."

"Kiss Me, Kiss Me Baby" has great backup again as they sing and play this to perfection! I always smile when I hear this tune; and I think that you'll like it, too. Nice horn solo in the musical interlude!

"I'm In A Dancing Mood" again has a pop, light rock flavor that really DOES make you want to jump up and dance wherever you are! "I'm In A Dancing Mood" truly is a major highlight of this album. There's also "Beautiful Lover;" this works very well thanks to their singing mixed with an excellent musical arrangement that uses percussion and drums very well.

"Bye Bye One Kiss Goodbye" features more harmonizing squarely in the spotlight; on this track Brotherhood Of Man sounds somewhat like ABBA but they hold their own very well and this is one strong number! "Bye Bye One Kiss Goodbye" has great percussion as well. "Heartbreaker" is a tender ballad that gets the royal treatment from Brotherhood Of Man; the musical effects work well and "Heartbreaker" is a very solid number.

"The Night The Circus Came To Town" ends the CD on a strong note; they perform this with panache and great sensitivity. "The Night The Circus Came To Town" describes the circus very well, too.

Overall, Golden Classics by Brotherhood Of Man really does a fine job of giving us a single CD retrospective of their artistry. I am very impressed with this album and I highly recommend this for their fans and people who like the oldies, too.

Most of the groups hits are included on this CD,plus a few album tracks and a couple of previously unreleased tracks.Some of the tracks are a bit dodgy,but on the whole,a good collection of singalong pop songs.If you like Abba you'll like this,if you're in motorhead,then you shouldn't be reading this review!
