Product Description

Her mother died with her fiancée in a train accident on the way to their wedding. Orphaned, Jessi went to live with the Jamison brothers on their Texas ranch.

The Jamisons would have been her stepbrothers if her mother's wedding to the boy's Father had taken place, so they took her in and raised her as a sister. They did their best, but Jessi grew into a tomboy and her antics outraged the community. The brothers realized that three cowboys couldn't raise one lady. So they sent her away to finishing school to learn what they couldn't teach.

Jessi always had very special feelings for the eldest Jamison brother, Jake. The only time she tried to tell him how she felt, he laughed. Well, at finishing school she learned all of her lessons too well. After graduation she comes home to the ranch as a temptress and Jake isn't laughing anymore. Her return fills Jake with passion so strong it can't be hidden, contained, or controlled -- feelings no longer brotherly on any level. The desire between Jessi and Jake disgusts the other two brothers who use every trick in their arsenal to break up the couple.

Jake has to fight an inner war between the big brother and the lover, forcing him to choose between his love for Jessi and his devotion to his family. If he chooses love, his family will be torn apart. If he chooses his brothers, he loses a part of himself he might not be able to live without.

Then, a maniac starts a killing spree that centers around Jessi. Will she be his next target?

From the Inside Flap

The big brother's gut churned with rage. Every protective instinct urged him to choke the life out of the lecherous bastard who wanted to become his sister's lover. He resisted the urge because it is a near physical impossibility to choke yourself to death. So he seethed with impotent rage, even as he burned with potent craving.

As the flames rose higher, a small voice emerged from the deepest recesses of his consciousness. "There's no blood tie and no legal tie. You drew a line. You can erase it." He squinted in disgust. Even the inner demon attempting to excuse the inexcusable sounded aroused.

Just the sight of her in profile, raising her long skirts to expose her shapely legs made him throb. She tossed back her head to laugh as she landed, and a wild gust of wind billowed under the front of her skirt, tossing it up until it lay around her shoulders. Jake started to sweat and tremble as heat stole his composure. His rapt gaze followed the long lush lines of her legs to her thighs and then to the gates of paradise. Satan must have inspired her to wear the sheer drawers that highlighted more than hid the wild nest of black curls.

The couple of seconds that passed before the wind died down enough for her to gather her skirts were the longest and the shortest seconds in the annals of recorded time. The beat of his rampant erection became drums heralding his descent into hell. The forbidden fire kindled so rapidly that it blazed past the boundaries of his control to become an inferno his formidable self-loathing could not quench.

As she turned, she reached to withdraw several of the midnight locks that escaped her upswept hair to fall into the deep "V" of her purple gown's neckline. The dress matched the eyes sparkling with the joy of her homecoming. The lover thought of the darker fire that would light her gaze as she climbed the mountain of passion to perch with him at the summit of --- no, that could never happen.

After she tamed her skirts, she turned towards the house, and tried to repair her hair. But the wind and her impatience made the task impossible, so she removed the pins from the wild mass, and allowed her the thick black mass to fall free. It fell to curve around her firm buttocks like his hands would when -- damn it Jake - stop it. But it got worse before it got better, because her attempts to tame her locks dislodged the neckline of her dress, and her breasts nearly overflowed their confinement.

Jake licked his lips, and then licked them again, imagining his approach to that bounty. His tongue would lick every inch of flesh teasingly before his mouth fastened to the pebbled nipples and -- he was doing it again. He commanded himself to get a grip, but lost it a second later when she reached inside her neckline to withdraw one of the long locks wound around her luscious globes.

Jake could hear his own breathing as he saw himself taking the ends of that hair and tickling her nipples until she spread her thighs. Then he'd move lower to tickle the lips of her cleft until the lock was coated with the moisture of her need for his ... no. Forbidden. Turn around you pervert, he thought, but she'd remembered that her bodice was askew, and reached up to tuck her breasts back inside. He stumbled on legs that did not want to support his weight as he saw himself lifting her skirts while he unbuttoned his jeans and freed his staff to lunge inside her wet, aching...damn it, stop. No more.

As she mounted the steps to enter the house, he sought refuge and camouflage for his badly tented trousers behind the bar. Closing his eyes, he pictured the scrawny tomboy with the bad haircut and all the allure of a stick. Where did she go? He was prepared for her return. And where did the exotic temptress come from?

Just last night he and his brothers had joked that they would likely have to lasso somebody clumsy enough to miss his chance at escape and haul him to the altar. As though they'd been privy to his thoughts, which they certainly were not because he was still standing and wasn't bloody, his younger brothers began to comment on her changed appearance.

"It's a good thing I've been working on my right hook," Josh commented.

"Yep. We better check our side arms too," Jared added.

"SHUT UP! BOTH OF YOU!" Jake snarled, poured himself a shot of whiskey, and tossed it back in one shot.

Jake stood frozen, holding his shoulders erect, as though his formidable 6'3" height would intimidate the lover who crawled out from some dark, hidden place. He gripped the whiskey glass he didn't remember emptying. His half-lowered lids failed to disguise the smoldering need in his dark chocolate eyes. As though eager to leave its creamy brown brethren, and perhaps the bastard it graced, a single chocolate lock sprawled across his forehead. His brow furrowed as he swabbed his free hand across his eyes as though that would fix his problem. It wouldn't because the problem was far from his eyes.

What had happened to him?

The minute he saw Jessi, the beast inside the man woke up and roared. Roared at the wrong prey. He couldn't get hard from staring at Jessi. No legal tie, no blood tie, okay he'd give the little voice that much, but she was his sister by word and by deed. Why then had his body responded so instantly to the siren's call of the temptress who wore his sister's soul? Somehow, she'd awakened the lover within the man she would call brother.

He could not shake the thought - where had his sister gone?

1.0 out of 5 stars SICKENING, EXPLICIT GANG RAPE DRAGS ON PAGE AFTER PAGE, November 16, 2011
By
A Bookaholic (Sammamish, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brotherly Love (Kindle Edition)
MY REVIEW IS ACTUALLY NEGATIVE 5 STARS (or whatever are the most negative stars can be awarded).

I read this book for free through LendleMe.com. I would have asked Amazon to refund my money had I paid for it. In fact, I think that the author owes me for the sickening, emotional distress she left me with after trying to read this absolutely disgusting book.

Is it not rape when a victim is drugged continuously, stolen by their siblings and delivered to a gang of rapists who proceed to inflict all of their twisted, demented sexual depravity over and over for hours and hours, against the will of the poor victim (who is continually drugged with a supposedly impossible-to-resist aphrodisiac that renders their body unable to do anything but seek satisfaction), forcing the victim to perform sex acts on multiple people even as their mind tells them it is not what it wants, then bringing the victim's loved one to witness the depravity into which the victim has been forced but which looks to the loved one like the ultimate betrayal, so much so that the victim is literally unable to stop having sex with multiple partners despite knowing that their loved one is witnessing this and that it will destroy their loved one and any possible future together, and the siblings "feel bad" because it went far further than they had planned but they still bring the loved one (they don't want the two together, so this is their brilliant plan to break the two up), and then they ride off leaving the victim to continue to be gang raped in every possible way????!!!!

This stomach-turning, horrific, explicitly described gang rape went on for page after page after page after page. I tried to skim through it as I could not believe the author had taken such joy in relating every little detail of the gang rape and attack, apparently feeling that this was her chance to show her prowess with sex scenes, for her "talent" to shine through and titillate her readers with her skill at multiple partner, forced sex acts. I had to skim each page to see where the rape ended, and then there were flashbacks that the victim suffered (the author used this to bring in yet more details of forced, violent sex acts) that I had to suffer through too. With each description I stumbled across my stomach turned in physical revulsion.

And why did this author (and her editor and publisher) think that it was an attractive feature of her book to describe in sickeningly minute detail the gang rape and violation of this poor victim?

BECAUSE THE VICTIM WAS A MAN!!!!!

My God, how far back has this author taken women's rights that she believes it is acceptable for such horrific violence to be inflicted upon a man? Did she really think that we readers would not take extreme offense at how cavalierly she treats the violent sexual assaults by describing them as though she actually believes that we women readers (the target audience) would find the scenes "hot," or somehow be vicariously excited by them? It's as though the author and her editor didn't think there was enough "action" to showcase her ability to write sex scenes, so they decided to throw in the most disgustingly detailed account of a gang rape they could come up with, and as it was happening to a man and the attackers were women, that made it acceptable.

It is even more insulting to actual rape victims that the male victim was portrayed as being able to "shake it off," and that he didn't seem to suffer much PTSD and was actually able to pick up and continue with his life as usual immediately after the rape, with just some flashbacks now and then. This belittles the physical and emotional trauma that true rape victims must fight to overcome in a myriad of ways, and in some cases for the rest of their lives.

Were the roles reversed, the rapists men and the victim a woman, this would be treated as the criminal assault that it is. But no, it seems the author is of the opinion that the male victim should be happy he's getting so much great sex from so many women, and with such variety, too. Even more perverse, his two brothers who set him up to cheat on his fiance because they didn't want the two to be together, these two rapists (they were just as guilty for setting it all up) were not kicked out of the victim's house, were permitted to remain unmolested in their home together with the victim and his fiancee, never apologized for what they did to their brother, and continued to act self-righteously in their refusal to accept the relationship. Again, had the victim been a woman, they would have been prime candidates for the death penalty for their role in setting up and assisting in the gang rape.

The author, her editor(s), and the publisher should all be ASHAMED of themselves for committing this violent, disgusting, criminal filth to paper and then treating it as though it's just another sexual encounter in an adult-themed story, because the victim was a man. They are also stupid to think that we women readers would accept that gang rape is acceptable erotica merely because the victim is a man and the perpetrators are women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!, March 22, 2010
This review is from: Brotherly Love (Paperback)
Loved it - a little controversial - makes you stop and think! No black and white or perfect characters here... It made me question my opinions and beliefs about love and what it means and I finished with a new perspective and a feeling of hope. Not only is it an entertaining read, but if you are willing to look a little deeper, you can take more out of it than just a good story.

1.0 out of 5 stars violent rape scenes repetivenesss and horrible secondary charcters, March 13, 2010
This review is from: Brotherly Love (Kindle Edition)
there were several things wrong with this book first there were several violent and unnecesarrily graphic rape scenes which i had not expected also there was too much contention over main characters relationship yea jake helped raise jessi and had once thought of her as a sister but she wasnt his sister and though it was mentioned repeatedly no one acknowledged it and they made so much of a big deal over the incestuousness of the relationship even thuogh there wasnt any that i started feeling guilty for wanting the lovers together also the lenghths the other characters went to to keep the lovers apart resulted in some nasty rape scenes and made it so there were very few decent characters spare yourself and dont bother with this one
