5.0 out of 5 stars Best WW2 PC Game Ever, Hands Down!
Fantstic graphics, runs fluid on current generation hardware, no technical issues whatsoever.

Gameplay is exceptional. Great blend of FPS & squad based action seperates this game from the tired genre. Heavy story driven plot with great cut scenes immerses you in the game and gives reason to keep coming back.

Best WW2 game I've played... and...

This review is from: Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Limited Edition (DVD-ROM)
Recently I was surprised to find brothers in arms hells highway limited edition on the shelf at my local retail store, So I grabbed a copy as I remembered the first long footage of baker and his boys finding and tackling those 88's.

The box gives you an action figure, a comic (was a bit surprised at that)
a playfull looking map and 3 leaflets with codes to unlock a gimmick in game, seems to be a pattern with accomplishments in FPS these last years, and off course the game itself.

The print on the back states that online activation is required yet when installing no keycode that comes on the booklet is asked for, in fact it even seems to run without a disk in the drive. Installing seems more like a screen of winrar as it seems to unpack everything from the dvd.

My guess is here that ubisoft delayed this pc release to disable the drm on the disk, that appears it could have been the same in the EA debacle which let you rent your purchased copy or make it a expensive coaster.
Still have to check my pc to see if my pc is securom free, just to be safe side.

This however does lead me to believe that the problem I have with my purchased copy is somehow related to this.

As the game does not allow me to create a user profile, with subsequent means ruling out any kind of saving of my game progress.. I'm waiting for ubisoft help on a solution to this problem.

The graphics are nice, even spectaculair in the rainy missions. (it's like starring in an episode of band of brothers)
I haven't seen any clipping sofar people reviewed in console versions and the sound is very good.

Overall game experience is very good and it's easy to be swept away if you want to star in your own band of brothers kind off thing.

It does a good job off delivering this, although some things brought me out of of that experience as the missions seem pretty scripted and the maps linear, destructable cover is very nice, yet at times it's missing out as some objects can withstand the biggest explosions while others crumble. On the other hand the maps are long and the firefights are great. the first person actor jump over objects shines and the voices all ad to the wonderfull experience

Somehow games these days are more hyped up then ever, unfortunately this product also seem to have it's share in it, as for some reason the 88 footage mentioned earlier appears to have not been actual gameplay and sad to say a lot of things shown did not make it into the game, however
the game has a lot going for it, the intense action, it superb sound and great firefights are quite good fun.

A good game, yet mine seems to have come with some flaws in the packaging. Which I hope will be resolved in the near future.

the rain in this game is truly amazing, the visuals do shine on these levels, despite a lot of things not making it into the game as seen on that long footage of the 88's it does pull off to be a very immersive WWII shooter with long hours of gameplay.

The multiplayer didn't appeal much as it was not up to par as the single player, for MP teamwork i will stick with BF2 reality mod as opposed to this one. maybe we will see a better one next time around.

If you like FPS and RTS then this is the game for you, not only do you have to watch out for your life but also the lives of your men. I'm a huge fan of everything WW2 any book, video or game I can find I buy. And being a fan of all of the CoD games and wanting more I decided to try this and was hooked immediately. This game isn't for everybody but for the price and getting a really cool toy it's very worth it.

A SIDE NOTE AND WARNING:

BiA Hell's Highway I completely recommend but if you have a machine that is running Vista DO NOT.. I repeat DO NOT buy the previous Brother in Arms games, I bought them and not only did they not work, they completely crashed my computer and I had to reinstall my os. Luckily I backup all my files on external hard drives otherwise i'd be 10 times more upset then I am now about what happened and ubisoft still hasn't fixed the vista compatiablity issue and don't seem to care. So Hells highway 5 stars.. the rest of the brothers in arms games negative 100!

I am accustomed to playing Call of Duty 4 which is a modern up to date pc game with life like graphics excellant life like movements of the characters.
Brothers in Arms does not quite measure up to the Call of Duty series, however it is intertaining.

Don't waste your money on the PC version of this game. I have and XP desktop, and a Vista laptop..........The game will load, but it won't play,on either PC, ITS that simple........The people at UBI Surely know this and yet they don't offer any warnings,,,,,,,Of course not they are into making money .........Had I paid $50 bucks for this game when it first came out I would be wanting to take a trip to UBI and give one of their designers an _ss whooping he wouldn't soon forget........
