3.0 out of 5 stars "MACK RACES INTO NIGHTMARE TO TEACH AWESOME LESSON", May 24, 2010
By
This review is from: Brothers in Blood (The Executioner #50) (Paperback)

The Executioner #50 written by Steven Krauzer is one of four books Mr. Krauzer wrote for the GOLD EAGLE series. The other three are #40 Double Crossfire, #44 Terrorist Summit, and #47 Renegade Agent. Mr. Krauzer has not written a book in the Mack Bolan line since 1983.

Mack is doing a most unusual thing for him: taking a vacation. He ends up in the wilderness of Idaho kayaking on a raging river, yeah, not my idea of vacation. Soon it becomes a nightmare for the big guy too. Due to circumstance Mack becomes the 'prey' rather than his normal 'hunter' role. He's on the River of No Return and it almost becomes that for Bolan. With overtones of Mack's brother, Johnny, and the lone wolf aspects of this story many readers feel this to be an exceptional book. For me in many ways the book heralds #90 in the series, another R&R for Mack only this time in Iceland, with much the same setting and story.. I give both books a 3-star rating as this type of Bolan isn't quite what I desire.

Very slow moving in some areas, especially where too much landscape is described, must be viewed by most loyal readers as a 'good' rather than a 'great' read. Yet as I've said many times for me all these books are quite readable and interesting.

Good action painting for cover art by that master painter Gil Cohen
