This is good old plain adventure-soaked fantasy.
We have an easy, proficient plot, simple (very simple) characterization, easy partition between good and evil (there are attempts at faceting but they are stereotypical).

Probably not the best fiction you shall read in your life but nonetheless a good satisfying read, perfect for a rainy afternoon. Better this honest entertainment than futile attempts at originality not supported by an artist's skills.

A word about the supposed slash content: I picked this book up because I thought it had gay content. It has not, at least not in this first volume. I will read the other two and let you know.

i'm trying to remember where i heard that this book had gay characters in it...i can't even remember. but i know i heard that from somebody, and it's just soooooo not true. aside from some light (very light) homoeroticism, there's nothing in that respect at all! and besides that, it's a pretty bad read....although some of the dialog is feakin' hilarious. i mean so incredibly bad that its just funny at times. (funny in a bad way though...) but anyway, my whole point was, if you're like me and you like fantasy with gay characters and you heard that this book had, in fact, gay characters in it, then know that the person or persons who told this to you....ARE LYING!!!! as a matter of fact they DRIP WITH DECEIT!!!! CURSE THEM ALL!!!!!

This is a tale of two Brothers from our world who are transported to a land of magical wonders and dangers, both are skilled martial artists, and survivalists with a range of skills that will save their lives and others that they meet in the strange land of Palenoc. If you like action, dragons and all manner of beasties and ghosts, both evil and not so evil, then this book is for you, pure enjoyment is what Id call it, full of well rounded characters, just the right hint of mystery, and of course its got martial arts, (gotta love that!!!} which means a lot of A-- kicking!!! (A movie please!!!!} So I do hope you sit down and curl up with a cup of something and enjoy the next few hours, you wont regret it.
