5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down
I've read Marcus Wynne's other two novels which I enjoyed. But,this seemed to me to be the best page turner. I very much enjoyed his development of the characters of the two beautiful female assassins and even that of the lonely young Saudi terrorist who had been designated to unleash the smallpox virus in the U.S. I have read several other novels recently that really...

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid action
Outstripped by the discoveries of no wmd in Irag, this is still a good action tale. Skimming is enough.

This is the third book that Marcus Wynne has written and it is

another good one.In this book Wynne has united the two heroes from his previous books Dale Miller and Charley Payne.

At the Torture Rehabilitation Center in Minneapolis a patient

holds a secret that could prove to be a threat to mankind. There

are several forces out to kill him.

A man who is posing as the patient in the Torture Rehabilitaion

Center and his small army of bodyguards are killed in expert fashion by two blondes riding on a moped. They encounter two guns

from Dominance Rain and have the gunfight of their lives. The twin

blondes try again to kill the patient at the Center and once again run into Dale Miller and Charley Payne and barely escape with their lives. After pursuing the two blondes into Amsterdam

they strike a deal with the hired assassins. They are lead to two culprets who are the two true villains of this story. The two are

on a mission for Al-Bashir,a terrorist group. They have a very

scary terrorist act planned. It becomes a scary chase to stop the

terrorists.Dale Miller is severely wounded and it is up to Charley Payne to stop this plot.Wynne has written a very good book that you will enjoy reading.Don't miss it.

Book is throughly fascinating and gripping. It deals with the inner workings and thought process of why special operatives are

so effective and deadly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brothers in Arms Novel, September 17, 2005
This review is from: Brothers in Arms (Dale Miller and Charley Payne Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
Good Book. A little weak in some action on the "Killers from Holland". I'd like to see more of them in the future. But, overall I enjoyed the book and would buy the next one without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Action Thriller, April 5, 2004
By
This review is from: Brothers in Arms (Hardcover)
After the first encounter with the sexy Twins and the intriguing events they spark, I found it very difficult to close Brothers in Arms for more than a few hours. The characters, story, and situations Marcus Wynne presents kept the book fresh and highly engrossing.

The strength of the story draws upon the real world threat of chemical warfare. The reader glimpses into the mind of a terrorist and begins to understand the politics behind terrorism. As a counter-terrorism expert, Wynne reveals the events leading up to the powerful climax with deft precision.

Brothers in Arms is a must-read for any surveillance, thriller, military, or mystery enthusiast.

4.0 out of 5 stars It keeps you reading and guessing right up to the last page, March 28, 2004
By
Bookreporter (New York, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brothers in Arms (Hardcover)
[...]The subjects of Marcus Wynne's novels have been two such guys. NO OTHER OPTION introduced Dale Miller, an ex-Army special ops expert, while WARRIOR IN THE SHADOWS featured Charlie Payne, a former CIA operative. Wynne could have strung both characters out over the course of two separate series of novels for years before doing what he did in BROTHERS IN ARMS, his third novel, which brings Miller and Payne together. While the men have different styles --- Payne is the cautious veteran while Miller is the occasionally impatient and younger upstart --- they share an equal level of competence.

Payne and Miller are brought together quite suddenly and dramatically when they both accidentally stumble into an assassination attempt performed by The Twins, a quietly exotic team of assassins who themselves are almost killed by Payne and Miller. The Twins' target is a mental patient whose mind has been ruined by torture, a mind that contains information regarding a terrorist plot that the patient can only reference, repeatedly and cryptically, as "sad holiday."

Miller and Payne are recruited by Dominance Rain, a secret operation used only for the most critical missions. Their job it to protect the patient, whose mental state becomes more fragile with each passing day. Wynne's portrayal of Miler and Payne is convincing ---they work well, but not entirely perfectly, with each other --- and his villains of the piece are extremely intriguing. Wynne keeps the action hopping back and forth between Amsterdam and the Washington, D. C. area, slowly drawing his characters together as they converge around an enigmatic, lonely young man who has been selected as the instrumentality of deliverance for a terrible and devastating weapon that is intended to strike at the very heart of the United States government.

BROTHERS IN ARMS keeps the reader guessing and reading right up to the last page. Wynne is not afraid to take chances, and while there is a definite ending to this fine novel, there are just enough secondary threads left dangling that his next novel should be eagerly anticipated. Fans of Tom Clancy, Stephen Coonts and espionage thrillers in general will want to make room for BROTHERS IN ARMS on their bookshelves.

5.0 out of 5 stars UN-PUT-DOWNABLE, February 14, 2004
By
This review is from: Brothers in Arms (Hardcover)
Once again Marcus Wynne has delivered a engaging and real to life novel based in part in the Minneapolis, area. Wynne knows his geography and cultural details as throughly as he knows his characters, which when formed from years in the field as an operator in his own right, makes this the third Un-put-downable novel authored by Wynne. I enjoyed being drawn into the plot, and being able to see in my own mind the events as they unfolded, and where they unfolded having being to some of those places myself. Having experience in the both the security and law enforcement field's I would enjoy seeing future books from Wynne!

5.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOK!, February 10, 2004

This review is from: Brothers in Arms (Hardcover)
Marcus Wynne has done it again. He's taken his street knowledge and applied it masterfully to his new work. The tactical know how, plot twists, and relevance to the modern day really sold this book for me.

Why bother reading thrillers from people who have never been there? Marcus Wynne has and has written three great books.

This review is from: Brothers in Arms (Hardcover)
The action and weaponery use and descriptions in Wynne books are so descriptive and accurate, you find yourself nodding in agreement and understanding because this guy has obviously had real world experience. Warning: Page turner. If you start reading Wynne books, they will consume your mind until you have completed reading the book. So start reading Friday after work so nothing else interrupts you until you finish.
