Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

With the acquisition of Ted Bates in 1986 for $507 million, the London-based Saatchi brothers' advertising agency became the world's largest, with billings of $7.5 billion. In this richly anecdotal and crisply written dual biography, Fallon, deputy editor of the London Sunday Times traces the 20-year meteoric growth of the Iraq-born, Jewish Saatchis, who are credited with helping Margaret Thatcher achieve and retain power, as well as countless other notable campaigns for commercial firms, the media and the arts. During the 1960s, creative Charles and analytical Maurice formed a single-minded team that established a global network and, as the title of this admiring book makes clear, continues to rise and rise. From Library Journal

Saatchi & Saatchi, the world's largest advertising agency group, was founded in 1970 by two brothers who have heretofore maintained a virtual wall of secrecy around themselves. Although the first history of their company, Philip Kleinman's Saatchi & Saatchi: The Inside Story (NTC Business Bks., 1989), was not written with their cooperation, this book was. Fallon, a veteran financial journalist in London, interviewed scores of the brothers' associates in business, the arts, politics, and other fields. The result is an informative work which provides more fascinating details about Charles and Maurice Saatchi than had been available previously. It will interest the general public as well as those engaged in commerce.
