4.0 out of 5 stars Informative book!
Browder's book is very informative. It is a very detailed guide of the origins of civilization as we know it. I am a student of religion and I have never found a book that goes farther into depth about the contributions of African people to this country. It's on my shelf, right next to my copy of "Stolen Legacy" by George James.

3.0 out of 5 stars I really like most of his essays
I really like most of his essays but I (a little ole undergrad student) found too many mistaken "facts" that he writes in the book and can be easily checked. For instance, he said Shakespeare helped re-write the King James version of the bible. He didn't. Or take the example that he says Madame CJ Walker invented the straightening comb. She didn't. Its just little things...

5.0 out of 5 stars READ IMMEDIATELY!, December 23, 2004
This review is from: From the Browder File: 22 Essays on the African American Experience (From the Browder File Series) (Paperback)
This book was the first of Mr. Browder's that I have read and was the foundation for continuing of my education of SELF! I also have the second one in this series which really breaks down religion, civilization, and TRUE history! I don't know about anyone else, but the most I learned in school of my people is that we were naked savages until the good white man came and saved us, which is sooo far from the truth. I don't care if you think you know religion or if you think you know african history, you don't know it to this degree if you haven't read this book and also purchase his next one (Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization). If you can put this down, without a fight, then hats off to you! I read it in one day, that's how thirsty I was/am!

This book should be read by everyone of African descent. Discussed in this book are subjects such as religion, skin color, hair, the need to free your mind, the mysteries of melanin, sports and African Americans, your responsiblity to the future and many many more important topics. At the end of each essay, there are books that Mr. Browder has suggested for further reading. Read and enjoy!

Hats off to Mr. Anthony Browder. Thank God for his wisdom and knowledge of the black man and his history not just in Africa, but in Egypt and America. This book is so powerful that it brought me to tears at one point. Mr. Browder's energy in words is equal to 15,000 volts of electricity and like that voltage if you do not know what to do with these words it could kill you. This book clarifies what I already believed to be true. The European's have never originated, discovered or created anything. They have copied, found and re-created what the black man (Egyptian, African) already had and owned. Mr. Browder made a point in his book when he said that he was approached by a reader who asked how he knew all that information. Mr. Browder's response was simply why don't you?. I thought about that I have been researching ever since. Thank you Mr. Browder for opening both my natural and my spiritual eyes.

Browder's book is very informative. It is a very detailed guide of the origins of civilization as we know it. The only problem I have with Browder's book is that it makes several assumptions about Christianity and the direct influence that Egyptian culture had on its origin. Because of the slavery of the Hebrews in Eygpt there was a great amount of influence, but not to the degree that he portrays in his book. Nevertheless, I have studied religion and its roots for almost a decade and I have never found a book that goes farther in-depth about the contributions of African people to this country and nations abroad. It is a part of my private collection, right next to my copy of "Stolen Legacy" by George James.

A must read in my oppion, it opens doors to the mind that were at one point closed for one reason or another, this book is just a taste of the truth, its more like a catylist for other books dealing with African science, art, and culture in further depth, I realy recommend this book for anybody wanting to know the truth of American society.

I gave my other book away so I wanted another one. This book started me on the road to self awareness of African culture and religious dogma. Great resource to begin your search.

3.0 out of 5 stars I really like most of his essays, October 12, 2010
This review is from: From the Browder File: 22 Essays on the African American Experience (From the Browder File Series) (Paperback)
She didn't. Its just little things like that that jump out at the perfectionist in me. I know that he's not just anybody throwing opinions around because he gives great references for further reading after every essay. So I guess I can look past those little nuisances.

This is a book that sould be read, when first entering into the African spirit. This is so, because it gets you into the history that would alter your current state of beliefs at a slow pace. It helps you as a first time reader to understand how little you know and how much you have to learn!
