If you are a student, this will help you to reach other students. If you are a leader, this will help you to reach students also. It is written in such a way that you can read it all at once or little by little. Good job list guy.

Great Read!,
This review is from: Brown Like Coffee--Path Cover (Paperback)
I thought this book was an easy read packed full of important information for those growing with the Lord and reaching out to those who do not know the Lord. This book doesn't candy coat difficult topics that are important for believers to wrestle through such as dating, homeosexuality, and most importantly boldness in sharing the Gospel in the face of persecution. Biblically based and also highly experiential, this book stresses the necessity of a solid foundational relationship with God and also motivated the reader by reflecting on people who have, and are currently, changing the world by advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I plan on giving this book to friends who desire to share God's heart for the world.

Great Focus for Young Adults,
By Jessica Nixon (Scurry, TX, US) - See all my reviews

I got this book for my son who just started his college years. I read it before giving it to him, and I believe it speaks directly to the interests and concerns of that age group...and I gained new insight as well. It is upbeat with a quirky attitude, yet engages the reader with thoughtful insight and challenges. He plans on using it with a friend so they can hold each other accountable as they work through it. I highly recommend this...would make a great gift for high school graduates.

Great book for students,
This review is from: Brown Like Coffee--Path Cover (Paperback)
This book has some incredible thought-provoking chapters about the issues that arise from being a Christian on college campuses - it's perfect for college students! The author's insights into life on campus are quite hilarious at times, and yet very true. Highly recommended.

Steve Shadrach has written an excellent book for campus workers and campus students alike.
Relatable language, good stories, deep topics for prayer and reflection. A great idea for a book to give a friend or loved one in college!

An Important Book for Young People of All Ages,
By Sue Stern (Corrientes, Corrientes, AR) - See all my reviews

This book is relevant for not only college students, but parents and teachers of high school students who are preparing for higher education. It's a fun read too, and will appeal to college kids as well as challenge them! Would make a great discussion tool too....
I want to give it to a 58 year old relative who has the desire to get his Masters Degree, but has encountered many hurdles to achieving his goal. Steve, great book, and I can tell you know your target audience well because of your communication style and subject matter. Your talkin' their language!! One question: when is it going to be translated into Argentine Spanish? We could really use it with our university students here! God bless, Sue Stern

Entertaining, Challenging, & Biblical,

This review is from: Brown Like Coffee--Path Cover (Paperback)
Brown Like Coffee by Steve Shadrach is an excellent book. The book is aimed "for students who think outside the box" an dfocused on challenging students to live a life radically set apart for Jesus Christ. The book as a whole accomplishes this task successfully.
Steve succeeds to make a the book compelling to his audience of college students by using humor througout the book, making it attractice and readable for many college students who spend enough time reading "boring textbooks" for homework. In that aspect alone, he deserves a high rating! However, Steve's use of humor does not diminish the deep content discussed within the book. The book contains 24 relatively short chapters, many of which discuss different topics-- from stories about how to date well to how to live a radical life of mission for Jesus Christ. The diverse number of topics addressed in the book are, in my opinion, a benefit of this book. The reader is not limited to one subject but rather is challenged to go deeper in his/her faith in a variety of different subject areas. I gave this book 4 stars only because I think it has a rather limited audience. Although the topics are presented well, the humor and style of the book (in my mind) does limit this book to college students (or the college student at heart?). It has a completely different tone than a serious, deeply theological book-- and although that is a beautiful thing(!), I also think that it's style might limit it slightly for certain students. Overall, I am confident that this book will help students yearn for a deeper relationship with Jesus. It challenges students to get off the couch and start living! At the end of the each chapter, Steve also includes "The Box", a section where he poses a challenging question to the reader and where the reader is asked to write down his/her response. Personally, I think it would be extremely beneficial for a mentor or leader to go through this book with a student, if not only to talk through those challenging questions at the end of each chapter and help the student to apply what he/she has learned!

Convicting, Challenging, Encouraging...,
This review is from: Brown Like Coffee--Path Cover (Paperback)
Brown Like Coffee was a great resource for many different areas of life that challenge college students today. I found encouragement, a challenge, and practical applications in each chapter. I am convinced that there is no time to wait around, but personal ministry on my campus and in the world starts with who I am and where I am today! This book is great for small group studies and reading with friends.
