Product Description

Out-Grow has simplified mushroom cultivation even further for you. Yes it is simpler, costs less, and is easier to work with then traditional half pint mason jars containing the same mix. These bags contain 8 ounces of pure mushroom substrate, which is much more than others sellers use in half pint jars. No extra layer of vermiculite needed like standard PF Tek jars, so you get more substrate! Simply inoculate the bag with 2-4 cc of your gourmet mushroom spore solution or 5-8 cc of liquid culture, and let it grow! Out-Grow's Brown Rice Flour mushroom substrate mix is 100% sterilized and ready to use at your front door. The substrate has a light consistency after it is broken up that is very easy for mycelium to colonize. This mushroom substrate is enhanced with all necessary nutrients and moisture needed for healthy, large fruits. The substrate contains vermiculite, brown rice flour, multigrain flour and gypsum. There is no fragile heavy glass jars to ship so our shipping and production cost is much lower than jars. Our bags have a 0.5 micron filter patch for proper gas exchange while keeping contaminates out. You can fruit in vitro in the bag or in a fruiting chamber as you would a standard substrate cake. Fully colonized brf bags can also be used as a spawn or for grain to grain transfers to expand your mycelium. Nothing could be easier. Just inoculate and wait. For larger grows, the BRF bags can also be used as spawn for a bulk substrate. Normally from inoculation to fruiting is around 4-5 weeks. This mushroom substrate is one of the finest available. These bags are suited for beginner and advanced mycologists.

Out of four different bags inoculated with spore solution, only one of the bags was contaminated by a household fungi whose mycelia resembled desired mycelia. I inoculated in non-sterile conditions, so this is an excellent pass rate. My technique, in retrospect, could have used refining.

For reference, I inoculated these bags by placing a drop of hand sanitizer over the injection site and then taping over the hole after inoculation, while flame-sterilizing the syringe between uses.

I just placed my second order for more bags. OutGrow is excellent.

Also, I did contact this seller and they were quick to remedy my order problem.

I ordered these to try them out, I'm a long time user of the PF TEK method but i thought I'd try the bags.
1. After innoculation the mycelium formed super fast
2. Birthing was super easy right in these bags
3. They cultivate super fast, and dont dry out.

All and all, just an amazing product for you mycology gurus

I choose this rating because these bags can become easily contaminated or already was contaminated (Read below). Now the bags that have a self-healing inoculation port work about 75% of the time. My most recent purchase of this type of bag worked extremely well. Though the last 2-3 bags became contaminated.

Wet Spot; Sour Rot - Bacillus sp.
Bacillus, which sometimes survives the sterilization process as heat resistant endospores. . A dull gray to mucus-like brownish slime characterized by a strong but foul odor variously described as smelling like rotting apples, dirty socks or burnt bacon. Bacillus makes uncolonized grain appear excessively wet, hence the name "Wet Spot". Pallid to whitish ridges along the margins of individual grain kernels characterize this contaminant. Bacillus primarily reproduces through simple cell division. In times of adverse environmental conditions, especially heat, a single hardened spore forms within each parent cell body - bacterial endospores, which can survive high temperatures for prolonged time.
The most practical method for eliminating bacterial endospores involves soaking the grain at room temperature 12 - 24 hours prior to sterilization. Endospores, if viable, will germinate within that time frame and then be susceptible to standard sterilization procedures. And, new endospores won't form in the moist environment of the resting jar of grain.

I do have to admit that despite these complaints. I still would recommend these guys over all other sellers either on Amazon or somewhere else. I have had most success with them. And they provide exceptional customer service, which makes transactions that much easier.

Every time I have ordered this product it has arrived at my house in a timely fashion. Even when USPS left my package in extreme heat, allowing some of my bags to dry out, I asked on my last order to send me the most moist brf bags in their inventory and outgrow replaced the bags that usps neglected. They didn't have to do this. These guys have great customer service and I will definitely continue to do business with them.

When you look at the negative reviews for this products keep in mind a lot of these mishaps could be due to inexperience. Growing mushrooms requires a lot of patience. I have seen it take up to 3 and a half weeks before I've seen signs of colonization in grow bags. One should keep this in mind, before throwing away their bags. Just follow the instructions given with these bags, have some patience because this product will do you solid!

So, I've always bought from outgrow. Everything I get is 100% contamination free. Anyways, first thing I want to say about this bag is "amazing" came here fast. Boxing was good and it was perfect size for my mushrooms. Only thing was bad about it was, the BRF was packed too tight. I couldn't brake it up. Besides that it was really good. I just ordered more things off of them. Hopefully it comes from UPS. Because the UPS chick is good looking. He he he anyways thank you outgrow you will always have my business

I got about three of them and one didn make it but I think its my fault by using the dunking tek after flushing and not rinse the cakes well enough before I put them back in the bag. Some ppl just water in the bag but the cake will not be completely submerged. My two bags did good tho with about four flushes from both. Ps the bag is smaller then what you see displayed in the pic. At first im like wtf but I quickly realized there was extra space for a few more bags

Great product! Ordered several times from this seller... Every once in a while there is a little problem... One or two of my bags wasn't completely sealed on a recent order but was pleasantly surprised that the size of the bags increased this time! I'll definitely continue using this seller.

I had one failure and one success both inoculated at the same time with the same equipment so I know the problem was not on my end. Cant beat the price though so id buy again if i run out of self made jars.
UPDATE* Without me asking this vendor is resending me a bag so I get optimal results. This vendor is great and appreciate his devotion to retaining a high star rating. Good job and thanks a lot. Will buy more soon that's a guarantee.
